Ever wondered what would happen if someone combined a serious overland event with a family resort vacation? That's exactly what we're exploring today as I share my excitement about Overland of America – a revolutionary approach to overlanding events that considers the whole family, not just the driver.
Unlike traditional overland gatherings that often mean dust, heat, and limited amenities, this event offers something unique: technical trails and gear shopping alongside pools, splash pads, and lazy rivers. It's what I'm calling "country club overlanding" – and while that might sound contradictory to the rugged spirit of adventure travel, it actually opens the door for more people to experience our community. Imagine wheeling all morning, then cooling off with a cold drink while floating down a lazy river in the afternoon. This is the first event I've seen that genuinely considers partners, spouses, and kids who might not share the same enthusiasm for recovery gear and roof top tents.
Speaking of recovery gear, I'm celebrating a major Facebook Marketplace win – scoring a Factor 55 Ultra Hook for less than half price! When you're covered in mud and making frequent recoveries, those little upgrades make all the difference between enjoying the challenge and slipping into frustration. This weekend looks promising for outdoor adventures after a rainy week in the Midwest, perfect for getting kids outside where their imagination can flourish away from search engines and screens.
Want to join me at Overland of America? Use code OUTSKIRT10 for 10% off, and come find me at the Midwest Adventure Outfitters booth. I'll be the sunburned guy with the big smile who just came off the lazy river!
