It’s a nakedly partisan gambit to maximize GOP wins in next year’s midterm elections, all at the behest of President Donald Trump. In response, some Democrats want the party to fight fire with fire. California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom said Thursday he wants a special election in a bid to offset Texas’s shenanigans.
