We have our 2nd Australian film on the podcast this week, Muriel's Wedding! A favorite of Dani's and yet another Australian film that talks about Abba at length. What's up with Australia and Abba? We have no clue but we take some guesses in this episode! Enjoy!
We're going anime this week! Well, not quite, but Dani's pick for this week is the 2004 live action film of the anime, Cutie Honey! A franchise Will had never heard of but he was ready to dive right in.
This week, Dani has picked the M. Night Shyamalan film, Split. This will be the first Shyamalan movie Will has watched since The Visit because after The Visit, he said he would never watch another film by him ever again. See if this turned out to be a happy return or not!
It's now Dani's time to reign! And with her first film back, she picked the sequel/prequel, The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas. A film in which Will has stayed away from for years but (un)luckily, Dani decided to show it to him this week.
We're sneaking in ONE last Lynch film before we end our marathon for good! For our finale, we watched what is arguably David's best film, Mulholland Dr. This is not the first time either of us has seen it, but Dani didn't remember much of her first watch so we decided to do this one. It made for a great conversation and helped Will get a firm grasp on his interpretation of the film.
Our Lynch marathon comes to a three hour end with Inland Empire. Over these past five episodes, there's been many ups and downs with Dani and how much she enjoys the film. This is no different! She has plenty to say about what this movie did to her.
"Walt Disney Pictures present..... A David Lynch Film"
Our fourth video in the Lynch marathon is Lynch's only G rated film, The Straight Story. Based on the real life story of Alvin Straight, this is an emotional film and probably Lynch's most accessible film, even though he calls it his most experimental film. See what Dani thinks of it!
For the third episode in our Lynch extravaganza , we watched Wild at Heart! David Lynch's 1990 love story mixed with graphic violence, lots of dancing to metal music and a VERY heavy applying of lipstick. Join Dani and I as we discuss her first watch of this film and if she enjoyed it any better than the last two Lynch films we have watched.
Continuing our Lynch-a-thon this week with the dark underbelly of Lumberton, North Carolina in Blue Velvet! One of Lynch's most accessible and acclaimed films. See what Dani's thoughts are after her first watch!
This is the start of something beautiful...
With this episode, we start a five episode run of David Lynch films! Lynch is Will's favorite filmmaker and there are five Lynch films Dani has not seen yet so we are going to be doing one of those films for each new episode until we reach episode 30! We start with his 1997 body swapping, road raging, cabin exploding masterpiece, Lost Highway.
