For college athletes in the United States, the NCAA 'Name Image and Likeness' rule change (which we covered in last weekend's episode) is a BIG deal. I figured now that a bunch of athletes can start making money off of their personal brand, it would be a really interesting topic to discuss on WhyFI Matter$  because it's the intersection of personal finance and being entrepreneurial.  I'm just super excited to talk to gymnast, student athlete, and entrepreneur, Leah Clapper- a rising senior at the University of Florida. Well, 18 year old change maker from England, Lauren Roberts-Turner,  has indeed asked herself this question; she now researches and studies ways that we can lift people out of poverty while creating an economically empowered society.  I met Lauren in April when we spoke  at a conference called the 'Footsteps Aspire for Equality Global Gathering of Women'.  I literally was mind blown by the intelligent and articulate way she described an economic program, Universal Basic Income and how this can alleviate poverty and increase financial independence. I am thrilled to have her on the show today to learn more about UBI!

July is Disability Pride Month! I am so excited to have Tiffany Yu on the podcast today. Tiffany is the CEO and founder of "Diversability", which is an award-winning social enterprise that amplifies disabled voices. She's also the founder of the Awesome Foundation Disability Chapter, which is  a monthly micro grant that has awarded $ 49.5 K dollars, to 50 disability projects in 8 different countries. She's also a fellow podcaster; she's the host of Tiffany & Yu.  Currently Tiffany serves on the San Francisco mayor's disability council and was the 2020 co-chair of the World Economic Forum Sustainable Development Impact Summit. In addition to all of this, she's a public speaker. These past few weeks, millions of Indian Americans have been living two realities. Here in the United States, thankfully COVID 19 infections have continued to decline, but India is experiencing a devastating COVID 19 crisis. The Indian diaspora has been oscillating between different emotions of  frustration, anxiety, nervousness, anger, and even guilt.
 Today I wanted to share with you the circumstances and challenges that Indians are facing today, as well as the ways that we, the rest of the world can help. We're going to hear from two young adults who are helping out in ways that they can, and they're all the way from Maharashtra and  Pune,  Grishma  and Jay ( team members of initiative "War with Covid" ) . Also, we're going to hear from Dr. Asima Banu, a medical microbiologist, and who is  leading the effort to fight the crisis at the Victoria hospital in Bangalore.
