Wicked Watchmaker of Montreuil

1884 France, and watchmaker Albert Pel is in every headline.
It all starts with a missing girl and alarming smells coming from his house.  As with most serial killers, it is that last crime that unravels all the others.
As policer investigate the unassuming watchmaker’s house, they discover bloodstains under the floorboards, tufts of hair, and odd looking cinders from his furnace.
Exploring Pel’s antecedents, investigators realise that Pel’s mother died suspiciously, followed by a wife, a servant and two other women who unfortunately fell within his sphere. 
His second wife, and her mother, escaped the house when they fell convulsively il and realised there was something terribly wrong.
We take a look at the case that gripped the French papers of the watchmaker of Montreuil in today’s episode of Sinister Saturdays.
