XO here, It's been sometime now and I just needed to rip off the band aid and get back in the headspace of recording. I've definitely struggled with whether I wanted to release this episode or not but here it is. I recorded alone this time which is new for me & honestly I felt super vulnerable and I still don't know how to feel about it. i.e The ramblings of me! Some things I have learned during this pandemic

1. I need interactions with the outside world and just people in general

2. I don't hate my job

3. I need my family more than I thought

4. lonely is different from being alone

5. I have a Online shopping addiction

6. Stoic doesn't mean you're not hurting and being vulnerable doesn't mean you are weak.

7. It's perfectly ok to grieve

1. Plan, If you have a plan you can move forward and at least have something to fall back on

Ak’s 3 suggestions for becoming unstuck

1. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else

2.   Know what you’re fighting for, know why you're doing what you’re doing?

3.   Everything comes with time, some things take a little more time. Just because you haven’t 

      done it yet doesn’t mean it cannot be done, some things take time.

Snow’s suggestion for becoming unstuck

1. Self Evaluation….Be honest with yourself,  Don’t get stuck on excuses. What are you doing  for yourself to become unstuck?

My Body temple… 

If I own my sexuality why does it matter who I sleep with or how many partners I have had? Promiscuity = Serial Killer? 

 Why is she a hoe? Is he a hoe? Its my body and I choose what I do with it?

Take the time to appreciate where you are, what you have and how many changes you’ve already made.

The art of self care Sundays, staying hydrated and minding ya own damn business. "Living Stress Free"

On the 7th day she rested, more so figuratively than literally....... any day that i have a day off or some free time to spend on myself is a "self care Sunday". self care days should consist of rejuvenating, empowering and healing. all self care practices should include a full night of sleep, according to my doctor, thats when all the magic happens... sleep allows your body to repair it's self & is more important than food or exercise! Eating right drinking water, minding your own business, protecting your peace, meditation, masturbating, knowing your body, knowing when something is off, taking time for yourself, a day at the spa, taking solo trips, counseling & knowing when to shut the fuck up! knowing when to walk away from a conversation or anything that doesn't involve you or bring you a peace of mind.

My Top three things to alleviate stress 

1. staycation- sitting at home, relaxing, take a hot bath, burning my favorite candle, catch up on my favorite shows, listening to music, cooking my favorite meal and talking to a loved one,  and taking a break from social media.

2. Controlling my environment- distancing folks who drain me spiritually and mentally and minding my own damn business.

3. Planning my next solo adventure. i started taking me trips about 3 years ago to just learn more about myself and learning to have fun alone and discovering new places.

Jump into Self care---- My Recommendations!

Meditating/Exercise

talking to someone you can trust i.e friend, family member or counselor/therapist

staying hydrated

get 6-8 hours of sleep per night

take 15 mins to yourself each day

breathe, just go outside and get a breath of fresh air

taking a break from social media

The Great Compromise

Everything in life is a compromise, it is selfish to think that you'll never need to compromise in a relationship? Is it unfair to ask of people what you do not have yourself? Should you have to comprise anything at all? Is it settling if you do compromise?

What are your list of deal breakers? 

Does their relationship with their family matter, could you date or marry a “Mama’s boy”?

Is lying a deal breaker, white lie vs a blatant lie..

Would you date someone who had an unsafe job?

If the person whom you’re committed to doesn’t want children is that a no go?

Would you date a guy with several kids or baby mama’s?

If the person made significantly less than you is it a deal breaker?

If the person doesn’t want to work or have stable income?

 It's levels to this shhhhh!

Does the level of relationship dictate what you're willing to overlook… i.e. Talking vs dating, dating vs friends with benefits, casual relationship vs committed status.

"Code Switch"

Code-Switching- the practice of alternating between two or more languages or a variety of languages in conversation

Incognito- having ones true identity concealed.

Do you ever feel like you have to turn down you BLACKness at work or curve your tone or jargon down so you wont offend any one or explain yourself to coworkers?

Why do we feel the need for code switching?

if you code switch is it considered being fake? are you 100 if you not keeping it 100? "assimilate" (Desmond says its ok to soften the blow)

Daddy Where Were You?

Absent Parent.

Does the absence of a father in a household really matter? 

Can a queen be a queen without first having the proper love from a king “her dad”.

Does it really take the love from a dad to shape future healthy relationships with men?

Daddy Issues- is an informal phrase for psychological challenges resulting from an absent or abnormal relationship with ones father. Often manifesting in a distrust of or sexual desire for men who act like father figures.

Some ways to identify that you may have daddy/parental issues

1.Trust issues- Your defective parent gave you no reason to trust him so you would possibly have an issue with trusting a partner. You been hurt by that absent parents inconsistency and broken promises. So you protect yourself from having your hopes up. You question someones intentions for you, instead of trusting that they want your best interest. You’re always checking if someone’s story checks out rather than focusing on making a connection with them.

2.Youre emotionally unavailable- your absent parent hurt you and now you’re possibly afraid to love.

3.You prefer sexual relationships too emotional, you strictly want sexual relationships because emotional relationships mean you risk getting hurt.

4.you constantly need reassurance- you constantly look to the person you’re with for reassurance. Do you still love me? Am I being too clingy? 

5. You seek emotional unavailable partners. We seek out what we are comfortable with, if your father didn’t give you the time of day you might be comfortable with this behavior.

6. You become easily attached. Instead of pushing me away you can become attached. When you find someone you are really interested in it can be hard to

If You Love Me, Say It!

"Give me my flowers while I can still smell them". 

The Kobe Bryant helicopter tragedy definitely took some time to process; In the time it took to process, I had to admit to myself that it was perfectly ok to grieve the lives of people I’ve never met and that we’re are all connected whether we think so or not. 

I found my self being bombarded on every social media outlet with the tragedy over and over again and I couldn’t settle my grief, so I disconnected from social media for 10 days. 

You have to recognize your trauma triggers and take steps to heal. In this time I grew even closer to my family, I didn’t think it was possible to be closer then we were. I’ve learned especially after this tragic incident, that the only thing you can dictate is your own response to outside factors. 

Life happens, it’s up to you to control your own stress levels & peace of mind.  Your mental health is directly related to those actions. It affects how we think, feel, and act. Life is short, do what makes you happy, tell the folks you love, that you love them as much as you can and protect your peace. You only get one life and today may be your last day.
