SOMETIMES it is critical in the first few seconds after the shot...marking the animal...sometimes your location...where you last saw them...all are elements that mat come into play.  Remember reading sign is not a forgotten art, but often an overlooked clue.

YEP, PREPARING FOR THE DRAW IS JUST THAT...THIS IS THE TIME OF YEAR, YOU NEED TO READ UP ON UNITS ETC AND MAKE SURE YOU CROSS YOUR T'S AND DOT YOUR EYES...DRAWING INTO A GOOD UNIT IS JUST THAT, ITS A GOOD UNIT FOR A REASON!   AND TAKE INTO ACCOUNT WHERE THE WOLVES ROAM AND THE HAWGS ARE OUTTA CONTROL!

 WHAT TO DO IN THE SUMMERTIME/ AFTER THE SEASONS...Is the perfect time to go over your treestands and firearms. Take some time to clean your gear up...replace bolts and straps, and above all..use the stuff before opening day...You will find that you are far more effective in the woods this Fall. Wash the mud off your guns...and stands...and get them ready for the upcoming year....From sling swivels to sawblades...make sure that all is functioning! 

MANY TIMES I'M ASKED how did I know to call one more time...The answer is simple.  I called...If it looks like it should hold a turkey, it generally does.  Don't be bashful about taking the lead and trying one more thing!

iTS that time...time to find and tune up your gear for turkey huntin'...Here are a few tips and techniques for gettin ready this spring!

Many times you can locate a game rich hotspot...simply by taking a peek from above!  Wether an isolated basin that holds big bucks...or a small strip of timber that serves as home for a boss gobbler, by studying the terrain, oftentimes you can virtually pick a tree, from your computer screen or map table.  The area's crops, funnels.pinch points and rivers and bottoms all show quickly how they channel game movement, when peeking from above.  Sure saves some boot leather!

WELL, as sportsmen we all encounter horses and backcountry travel...if you hunt long enough, or fish, or just like to see wild country.  Course after attending Famed Smoke Elser's packin. school at seventeen, I came to the conclusion that often if you want to get somewhere and have everything, you put itin a backpack and tote it.  Horse packin' or the art is fast becoming a thing of the past, and it is hard to take.  When you have a good group of stock and a couple of good packers, well it's always work but it becomes easy...but then you realize,,,you deal with horses...several of them....gear...mountains....bears....inexperienced riders....well, now you got the picture!
