As we get closer to the end of the chapter Paul gives two illustrations - one about growing up and the other about face to face interaction. Children are wonderful. But growing up is better than staying a child. Reflections are good, but reality is better than a reflection.

With a focus on both the present and the future Paul reminds us in just sixteen words that love is timeless. It will never go out of style. It will always be relevant. It will never quit.

Love does not stop with self.
Love does start with God.

The desire to love and be loved makes us human. While we all want it, we aren't sure how to give or receive it. With the best of intentions, the human race has set out to define what love is and that changes with every new generation. The current definition of “love” is deceptive and dangerous. Enter 1 Corinthians 13. God’s description of “love” is reliable and relevant.
