With all the polls suggesting Scott Morrison will lose the election in 8 days, he promises a gearshift if he is reelected. Victoria is set to ban public display of the swastika while in NZ race politics returns again. Tim and Stephen discuss on this week's Trad Tasman Talk.
In international news yesterday Kim Jong-un has locked down North Korea over a single mystery case, overnight he fired 3 ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan and today turned up at Scott Morrison’s press conference in Melbourne to express his support for Gladys Lui in the seat of Chisholm. The continued Shanghai lockdown is contributing to a shortage of medications and medical supplies here in Australia.
The New Zealand international border will fully reopen on July 31. Covid-19 Minister Chris Hipkins this week announced that a new voluntary vaccine pass system will be rolled out on June 1st along with a personal vaccine journal for residents to record all their vaccines in the one place. NZ is still at orange level restrictions which means masks are mandated in retail, hairdressers, and beauty salons.
Scott Morrison has promised he will switch gears if re-elected and won’t be a ‘bulldozer’. The Channel 7 leaders’ debate on Wednesday was tamer than Channel 9’s on Sunday night. The ‘undecided’ voters 7 invited into pubs in marginal seats voted that Albo won the debate. The Teal Climate 200 independents could claim a major Liberal scalp in Kooyong held by Treasurer Josh Frydenberg. Marginal Liberal MP Fiona Martin mistook her Labor opponent Sally Sitou for another Asian Labor member Tu Le.
Victoria’s hospital system is in crisis with clogged EDs and ambulance ramping as people differed care during lockdown which also made Victorians live more unhealthy and so are now sicker. The state Health Minister Martin Foley has blamed the Federal Government for not providing enough health funding even though the states run all the hospitals.
Victoria will ban the public display of Nazi swastika through the passage of a bipartisan bill. The maximum penalty will be 12 months in prison and/or a $22k fine. It will take effect one year from when it is passed by the Parliament. Two Nazis were arrested for stickering this past day. Victoria Police showcased their new CIRT secret training facility, CIRT officers were deployed during anti-lockdown protests.
The Maori Party has called ACT Leader David Seymour “worse than Don Brash because he has Maori whakapapa” over his alternative budget, which abolishes multiple demographic Ministries. Maori Party President Che Wilson says Maori Party will not stand in June’s Tauranga by-election because racism and hate speech in Tauranga made it not safe for Te Pāti Māori to campaign there. Greens MP Ricardo Menendez-March claims that moving away from low-skilled migrant labor equals a White New Zealand policy.
In sports news, it has been revealed that Australian Basketballer Liz Cambridge didn’t participate in the Tokyo Olympics because during a practice game with Nigeria told them to ‘go back to your third world country’. Former Collingwood player Heritier Lumumba has leaked private conversations with former Coach Nathan Buckley when he was falling out with the club over alleged racism and homophobia he claims he saw.

Channel 9's Leaders Debate last night has had a grate effect in its aftermath as early voting begins. Overseas voting in Northern Ireland and campaigns in Republican primaries are leaving many stunned. I explore the latest fireworks in the world on this week's Tim's News Explosion.

NZ Speaker Trevor Mallard gets himself ready for duck season, in the Australian federal election campaign Anthony Albanese is ducking from the media, both nations are facing a cost of living crisis, and will the end of Roe v Wade have a downstream effect on the Tasman nations? Join Tim Wilms and Dieuwe de Boer on Trad Tasman Talk.
Victoria has recorded its first 'flurona' death, there is a nationwide push for the elderly to receive their 2nd booster or 'winter dose' and everybody to get a flu jab. The ACT has removed vax mandates for teachers and healthcare workers but Victoria still has broad worker vax mandates. In NZ the border is still not fully open to the world and mask mandates continue in retail. Siouxsie Wiles warned on Twitter that removing mask mandates will cause long covid.
Due to the leaked draft US Supreme Court decision overturning Roe vs Wade and returning abortion legislative authority to the states the progressives again know the definition of a "Woman". Feminists have also dusted off their "My body, my choice" signs which were in storage during the vaxx mandates.
The NZ cost of living crisis continues with inflation at 7% and rising interest rates to counter it cooling off the housing market. MyFoodBag cleavage scandal that for some reason involves the PM commenting on it. Australia is now catching up with the Reserve Bank beginning the process of raising interest rates going from 0.1% to 0.35% after a yearly inflation rise of 5.1%.
Former NZ National Leader Simon Bridges formerly resigned as a member of parliament The Rotorua local government voting segregation bill has been sunk by Attorney-General David Parker. Parker has also made Speaker Trevor Mallard back down on trespass notices he gave former MPs who participated in the convoy protesters which would have banned them from the Parliament.
Labor Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese has had another gaffe forgetting his own 6-point plan. Post his covid isolation Albo is accompanied everywhere by a Shadow Minister to help him answer questions. At Labor's campaign launch Albo announced their housing policy where the government will own 40% of your home.
There will be two further leaders' debates on 9 and 7. Early voting starts on Monday with the United Australia Party preferencing the Coalition One Nation preferencing Queensland LNP but against Liberal moderates. Fiona Patten is butthurt Victorian Labor has placed her Reason Party below Liberal Democrats and Derryn Hinch Justice Party on their Senate how to vote card. Victorians Greens Senator Lidia Thorpe has failed herself abusing Victoria Police officers outside a Broadmeadows detention facility where illegal immigrants were being transferred to Christmas Island. Democracy Alliance leader Drew Pavlou was in Melbourne this week with a billboard against Liberal MP Gladys Liu and he is being sued by Nick Xenophon over billboards mentioning his Huawei lobbying.
Jacinda Ardern has labeled chemical company CEO Simon Henry misogynistic for criticizing My Food Bag Chef Nadia Lim calling a photo of her in her prospectus calling it"Eurasian fluff" and blaming her "cleavage" for the company's poor performance.
In Victorian news, the Andrews Government's poor investments in the health system during their time in office are being exposed. State Treasurer Tim Pallas has promised an extra $12 billion for the health system in this year's budget however they have delivered 0 of 10 community hospitals they promised at the 2018 election and the $1.3 billion promised for 4000 extra ICU beds at the beginning of the pandemic is unaccounted for. It has been revealed Dan Andrews has been secretly questioned by IBAC again, this time over the John Woodman property scandal.

Mad about truth and free speech making a return on Twitter following Elon Musk's purchase of the platform the Biden Administration has set up a disinformation board of disinformation. Madmen mass triggering with the truth is the focus of this week's Tim's News Explosion.

Australia recorded a 5.1% inflation rate over the past year thanks Lowe interest rates of 0.1%. The rising cost of living is at the center of the federal election campaign. NZ is already besieged by rising inflation and is now experiencing rising crime. Tim and Stephen break it all down on this week's Trad Tasman Talk.
In the Australian federal election campaign as Labor leader Anthony Albanese emerges from covid isolation his Deputy Richard Marles has tested positive. The High Court of New Zealand this week ruled that Jacinda Ardern’s MIQ lottery was unlawful in how it was conducted.
Australia’s inflation rate was revealed to be 5.1% for the past year meaning the Reserve Bank MUST raise interest rates next week. As well as increased food prices empty shelves are returning to supermarkets. In response, the mainstream media is again promoting eating bugs as a meat substitute to fight climate change. Prince Charles has proposed cows wear masks to prevent their farts from increasing emissions. In NZ companies are finding creative ways to hide the full impact of inflation from their customers.
Dan Andrews is passing through the Victorian Parliament The Agriculture Legislation Amendment Bill 2022 which will give authorized officers powers to confuscate and destroy food grown and farmed in the state in the name of ‘biosecurity’. A leaked draft report from Victoria’s IBAC into Labor party branch stacking has found that cultural failings within Victorian Labor were systemic and had been condoned or even encouraged by party leaders for many years.
Border security and the Solomon Islands security pact with China continue to be the biggest national security issues in the campaign. The Teal independent campaigns against inner-city Liberal MPs are intensifying. Many campaign signs have been vandalized around Victorian electorates.
More Major party candidates’ previous social media posts are being reported by the mainstream media. The Liberal candidate for Hindmarsh in inner Adeliade Anna Finizio has suggested defunding the police and also criticized the Coalition’s asylum-seeker offshore processing policies. Jadon Atkinson the Liberal for Cooper in inner Melbourne supported Fraser Anning at the 2019 federal election. One of Warringah Liberal candidate Katherine Deves’ last social media posts was an old photo of her attending Sydney’s Gay and Lesbain Mardi Gras. Also, the Liberal candidate for the Melbourne suburban seat of Isaacs Robbie Beaton has admitted listing a false address on his candidate nomination form.
Youth crime is on the rise in NZ with ram raids into shops. Police Minister Poto Williams has called for a community response rather than a policing one. Shopkeepers are resorting to arming themselves to defend their businesses. A Queenstown bartender has been cleared of any wrongdoing by a court for his citizens’ arrest of an angry and aggressive patron. Convicted pedophile former NZ businessman Wayne Smith lost a bid in the High Court for name suppression.
In media news, Alan Jones returns from four back operations to host his Australian Digital Holdings online show for the final 3 weeks of the federal election. Alan Jones was fired from Sky News Australia last year to make way for Piers Morgan’s new global show which launched this week.

With people out and about normally again after two years of rolling lockdowns, they are no longer watching crap legacy media content. On this week's Tim's News Explosion I gleefully go through the media falls of the past week.
ANZAC Day dawn service crowds at Melbourne's Shrine of Remembrance were back at full capacity after last year's shameful lockout of veterans. It is worth remembering how Australians were willing to sacrifice all the freedoms the ANZACs fought for during the past two years of lockdowns and restrictions.
Scott Morrison invoked the war in Ukraine as an example of citizens fighting for freedom. Defence Minister Peter Dutton invoked the possibility of war with China that peace is not forever. The Greens believe that alarm over the Solomon Islands security pact with China is racist. Though Scott Morrison has used to race card claiming that Labor's attack ads against marginal Liberal MP Gladys Lui are racist.
Gruen Transfer panelist Todd Sampson has triggered Antifa on Twitter for a photo with Blair Cottrell plus the revelation he is producing a new documentary for Network 10/Paramount Plus on hate and social media featuring Thomas Sewell. The White Rose Society and Tom Tanuki claim that platforming them because they are skilled 'media manipulators' will lead to more people agreeing with their views.
Less than a month after its launch CNN Plus will be shutting down given only 10,000 people were willing to pay for more CNN. New owners Warner Bros. Discovery and new CEO Chris Licht wish to return CNN to hard news. News Corp's Talk TV launches in the UK with Piers Morgan its key signing for £50 million over 3 years. His new global show claims it will cancel cancel culture even though he has been fond of cancelling throughout his career.
Netflix share price has plummeted after losing 200,000 subscribers this year, it has constantly raised its subscription fees though its programming quality has declined. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed a bill that strips Disney of its special self governing status in Central Florida under the Reedy Creek Improvement Act. This was in response to Disney opposing Florida's new Parental Rights in Education Act. The Washington Post's Taylor Lorenz doxxed the creator of the Libs of Tik Tok Twitter account Chaya Raichik claiming this was newsworthy because its reposting of groomer educator videos inspired the Florida bill.
In other news the Biden Administration intends to appeal a Federal Court ruling striking down its air travel mask mandate in an attempt to become even more unpopular. ABC Presenter Fauziah Ibrahim has 'taken a break' from on camera duties while the ABC investigates her Twitter lists with triggered drips as they were titled “Labor Trolls/Thugs and “Lobotomised Shitheads”.

Ghosts of Campaigns past have returned to scare Australian voters before the May 21 federal poll. Jacinda finally leaves fortress NZ after two years for Japan. Join Tim Wilms and Stephen Berry live tonight at 6pm Melbourne time and 8pm Auckland time for Trad Tasman Talk.
Stephen has relaunched his Mr Berry Mr Berry show after being fired from Officewokes after some co-workers were triggered and offended by his final episode.
Victoria, NSW, and the ACT have eased close contact isolation rules with other states set to follow. In Victoria retail and hospitality workers, and primary schools students no longer have to wear masks. Vaccine passports and QR codes also end but worker vaccine mandates remain. NZ has also ended its vaccine passport system though there are still some businesses that are voluntarily enforcing them.
Labor leader Anthony Albanese has tested positive for covid so will be in isolation for 7 days. Despite Albo's stumbles Labor is ahead in the Mr Berry poll of polls though he did perform well in the Sky News people's forums.
Liberal candidate for Warringah Katherine Deves continues to have her controversial transgender comments on her old social media reported almost daily by the mainstream media. She has apologized for suggesting that 50% of trans-identifying biological males were sex offenders and there was a link between transvestism and serial killers.
Labor's Kristina Kenneally's parachuted move to the lower house isn't a guarantee with Deputy Mayor of Fairfield Dai Li running for the seat of Folwer as an independent. Kenneally attempted this week to sell Labor's new Mediscare style campaign claiming that the Coalition plans to put pensioners on the cashless debit welfare card, the ABC fact check debunked this claim with an 'election scare alert'.
Pacific Islands Minister Zed Seselja traveled to the Solomon Islands in a last-ditch attempt to stop the nation's Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare from signing a security pact with China. Foreign Minister Marise Payne corrected Seselja that the government did know about the pact before it was leaked on social media. Defence Minister Peter Dutton has hit out at Deputy Labor Leader Richard Marles for a book chapter he wrote stating that Pacific Islands could enter into any agreement with China they wanted to.
Jacinda Ardern is on her first international trip since she closed the borders in March 2020 to Japan. She was greeted by the dancing Zespri kiwifruit brothers. We round out the show by looking at the polling for the French Presidential election runoff where Emmanuel Macron is against up against nationalist Marine Le Pen.

The start of week two of the Australian federal election campaign has seen more twitter transgression take up coverage as Telsa billionaire Elon Musk attempts to take over the social media giant. The latest on the return of Tim's News Explosion.
Scott Morrison is standing by his Capitan's pick for the seat of Warringah Katherine Deves founder of Save Women's Sport. Journalists Samantha Maiden and Michael Koziol have reported on Deves controversial comments on transgender people on her deleted social media and in online interviews. Morrison unveiled Senator Anne Ruston would be his next Health Minister if he is re-elected.
Anthony Albanese had a shocker of a first week for the campaign. After not being able to name the unemployment and RBA cash rate he caused confusion over Labor's border protection policy and the AMA slammed his 50 urgent care clinics promise which is not costed by the Parliamentary budget office. Albo was also booed on stage at Bluesfest in Byron Bay while introducing Jimmy Barnes.
Outgoing LNP Member for Dawson Geroge Christensen has reversed his decision to retire and will run 3rd on the One Nation Queensland Senate ticket. The United Australia Party held its campaign launch on the Sunshine Coast where during rehearsals Clive Palmer fell off the stage and was rushed to hospital. Teal independent candidate for Goldstein Zoe Daniel has apologized for comments talking about Trump's Jewish donors and signing a petition to allow journalists to criticize Israel.
The Twitter board is trying to scuttle a takeover bid from Telsa billionaire Elon Musk who wants to return free speech to the platform. The local leftist Twitter drips are harassing ABC presenter Fauziah Ibrahim for her private Twitter lists that were leaked titled "Labor Trolls/Thugs” and “Lobotomised shitheads”.
