England cricketer, Dom Sibley, comes on Win or Learn and opens up about his journey representing England across the world.
Nick Pope goes deep on his journey from being let go from Ipswich at 16 to become an England international. On this week's episode, Nick Pope takes us right the way back to his childhood, playing football at Ipswich Town from age 10 to being released at age 16 and thinking it was the end of the road of his football dream. He revealed how he kept motivated and persistent during loan spells at a number of different clubs to that feeling of pulling on the England journey for the first time against Costa Rica. How he copes with the pressures of being a goalkeeper, social media and family support, and does Nick Pope have himself in his own fantasy football team?!?!? A massive thank you to Nick Pope for coming on the Win or Learn show.
We ran the first marathon of our ultramarathon training schedule. 7 months out from the start line, we decided to see where our fitness was physically and mentally. We ran for a total of 5 hours 15 minutes and boy did we have to solve problems when we were out there. In November, we run a 50-mile ultramarathon, "The Impossible Dream". What happens when you take two normal guys and set a challenge that everybody else says is impossible! In this episode, we talk about the race, how we felt, what went wrong and we reveal the challenges we have coming up.
Upcoming running challenges:
How much distance can we cover on foot in 8 hours? A challenge of strategy, timing, patience, grit and determination. Chris versus Jake. Same starting position, opposite directions, who can run, walk and stumble furthest!
4x4x24, SHAMELESSLY ripped from the machine David Goggins, who runs 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours. Whilst we will have to channel our inner goggins to complete this challenge, we have shortened it to 24 hours. We will set of at midnight and run 4 mile, then again at 4am, then again at 8am, right up until midnight 24 hours later than when we first set off. Another challenge, another mad idea from Chris, but the perfect recipe to push our bodies further physically and mentally, both of which will be tested to the hilt during our first 50 mile ultramarathon.
As usual please subscribe to this podcast to be notified for future episodes, we will start posting twice a week, one of which will be our weekly running ultramarathon training diary. The challenges we are taking on and our progress closer to the goal of achieving "The Impossible Dream".
