Father Anthony with Cristina and Tony regroup today after the weekend, chatting and catching up as we lose an hour for Daylight Savings Time and we dread Monday.  Father offers daily prayer and afterwards turns to the readings of this past Sunday. They chat about the Book of Exodus as the people grumble about their situation. The group recognizes how we, the people of today do that also.  Father gently reminding us that we take one day at a time and that we focus on God to get through the struggles of each day.

It must be Monday as Lauretta has two guests for this episode of Winds of Change: Barbara Heil, Catholic convert and Catholic Evangelist. and Joyce Duriga, Editor of Chicago Catholic.

Barbara came home to the Roman Catholic Church in April of 2013. She formed From His Heart Ministries with a desire to see this generation experience the deep love of our heavenly Father.

She has appeared on EWTN’s the Coming Home Network, spoken at the International Eucharistic Conference in Budapest and has appeared on numerous tv and radio programs. Barbara conducts parish missions, revivals, retreats and conferences as well as being a regular Encounter speaker. Father Koys posits that all wars are in some sense religious in nature. Father Koys reads letters from Iranians who have suffered and witnessed persecution in Iran.

It’s Monday and Lauretta talks about 1 Timothy 2:1-2 as we offer prayers, intercessions and thanks to God with respect for Him and all people, specifically kings and those in authority so that we may lead quietist peaceful lives full of devotion as the World is on fire. We recall those 4 Members of our military killed and those injured.

On this Pulaski Day, Lauretta recalls a great friend of the American Revolution and Father of the U.S. Cavalry, Casmir Pulaski, this is a special day in Chicago because of the city’s large Polish population.

Lauretta also references the Jewish holiday of Purim that commemorates the saving of the Jewish people by Queen Esther from annihilation at the hands of Haman as it is recorded in the Book of Esther read in synagogue. Believers are urged to send food parcels and give charity as well as partake in a festive meal and drink some alcoholic beverages from sunset tonight to nightfall tomorrow.

God has purpose for you. You are called, chosen and redeemed for such a time as this. Modern Persia is Iran.

The group takes the time to catch up after a month of being off.  Father leads us in prayer after the first break and then focuses on the season of Lent, the 40 days of preparation leading up to Easter. He tells us this is a penitential season and reminds us that we have a responsibility to be humble and live as God calls us to live, telling us to choose correctly.

Meanwhile, the discussion shifted to cartel violence in Mexico where Americans are asked to shelter in place. It is also the Jubilee Year in honor of St. Francis. As we are in Lent Joyce talks about the First Recorded Practice of Lent and how Pope Leo’s American roots influence his Papacy.

Father Anthony with Tony and Cristina gather to discuss the goings on, and people in the Parish. We begin the show with Spiritual “warfare” as Father Anthony’s mic was just not functioning.  Father relocated to a different mic and prayed while we worked on technical difficulties-finally resolving towards end of prayer. Amen!! After break we regroup and start anew, Father discusses a few articles that have been written after the assassination of Charlie Kirk. One article in particular addresses a noticeable increase in church attendance. Another addresses the urgent need to reject relativism-Father was just speaking to this last week Friday, how timely he is. The group goes ahead and chats regarding these topics, always coming back to God is needed, He is the center and prayer is key!
