Winds of the North

The wolves fall silent before dawn. Shortly afterward, an unknown force advances toward Angloer. Urbeth discovers that the attack is not what it seems.

The night is over, but the threat continues.

Trapped in a tower guarding a narrow pass between sheer drops, Urbeth and the men of Angloer prepare to hold their ground. Arrows, fire, and an old catapult are all that stand between the defenders and those advancing from the North.

But as the battle draws closer to the gate, details that do not add up begin to emerge.

Five soldiers leave Barchtemir and advance towards Angloer, an isolated tower in one of the North's most dangerous mountain passes.

Urbeth knows that eight eight-man units are marching to reinforce the border. But he also knows something else: in those mountains, two days can be far too long.

The rumours speak of towers under attack.

Of missing soldiers.

Of Nakuos.

And of wolves behaving in a way no animal should.

When they reach Angloer, they find a tense garrison, two men accused of abandoning their post, and a story that is hard to believe. Agnus and Marzahal insist that Nakuos has fallen.

And that what is coming behind them is much worse.

But Urbeth has not survived this long by accepting things exactly as people tell them to him.

As night falls, the mountains begin to answer.
