Each year, Tim Taylor makes his homage to our 50th and, perhaps, greatest state of the union, the islands of Hawaii.  On this year's trip, Tim decided that the sandy beaches, warm trade winds, whale watching, deep sea fishing, and drinking a mai tai at his favorite tiki hut were just too enjoyable and decided to extend his trip by a week.  But wait, what about the radio show?  Well, the show must go on and on it did.  So, you say to yourself, "What does Hawaii have to do with Irish culture!"  More than you think!  On this episode the Emerald Isle meets the Isles of Hawaii featuring music from Irish and Irish American artist such as Rosemary Clooney who recorded her last album in Honolulu, HI along with the Big Kahuna and the Copa Cat Pack big band and the Honolulu Symphony Pops and how about Bing Crosby?  Yep, he recorded dozens of Hawaiian themed songs and dedicated an entire album to the Islands.  Elvis Presley, you say?  Well, he filmed three movies on the Islands including Blue Hawaii.  And, who could forget his comeback concert Aloha from Hawaii in 1973?  Yeah, Johnny Cash too!  The last song on his last album released six years after his passing is a traditional Hawaiian song.  Hey, and let's not forget our friends from the Emerald Isle!  Bands like Gaelic Storm, Emma Langford, The Byrne Brothers, and a brand spanking new song from Davey Furey featuring S.O.N. off the newly released album, Haunted Streets.  Plus stories of the Celtic Maui Pipe Band and a special set from a couple of local Hawaiian bands playing Irish music featuring the Kilt Lifters and Craiceailte (Crack-ay-alcha), Hawaii's craziest Celtic Band.  All of this warmth brought to you from near the beaches of Kihea, HI in the ProArts Studio.  Tune in each Sunday afternoon on WNDZ 750AM from 12 noon to 1pm or catch the podcast at www.windycityirishradio.com.
