*CUE AUDIO ISSUES*
W&D has been experiences issues with our mic so we have opted to record directly to the computer mic. Please consider being a donor on Patreon to help finance new mics and audio equipment to give you the best Wines and Dolls experience possible.
But what does not cause us any trouble are INFLUENTIAL WOMEN! March is Women's History Month so Chelsea and Emily have themed the March episodes to be about empowering women! In this Intermission Show, Emily and Chelsea reflect on some of the influential women they have worked with in their career. To keep the episode at intermission length, they were unable to get to ALL of the women- look out for a Part 2. There are so many women that inspire Chelsea and Emily, and we aspire to inspire!

Unlucky episode 13.
Join Emily and Chelsea on a journey through Houston to record. Starting at our place of work and traveling to the Hobby Center, all the way to Chelsea's car. When juggling several jobs and tech week, W&D has to get creative! We begin in hushed tones so that the students don't hear. Chelsea whines (no wine involved) about bad audience members- don't text and theatre! W&D heads to Diana American Grill at the Hobby Center where our wonderful waiter, Brent, finally provides wine for the rest of the episode. Recording in a restaurant was a new experience- we were far less disruptive than the couple that found out there is a no intermission in Once on this Island. After experiencing one of the best productions to come through Houston, we complete our episode in the car. W&D delves into the story about adulthood, told in a way that will reach the inner child in every stressed adult. Avenue Q was created by Jeff Whitty, Robert Lopez, Jeff Marx, and Rick Lyons.
W&D is learning a lot about podcasting and balancing jobs. We love what we do and want to continue providing quality content to our listeners as best we can.
Playing now until Sunday, March 1st at 2pm is ONCE ON THIS ISLAND at the Hobby Center. Go see it before it sails out. Thursday February 27 is OUT @ TUTS: Once on this Island hosted by Regina Blake-Dubois.
CORRECTION: Jeff Whitty wrote the book for Tale of the City, not Tale of Two Cities the Musical. Jason Moore directed Tale of the City Musical.

In studio (Chelsea's house) with us, we have the infamous REGINA BLAKE-DUBOIS (drink)! Chelsea and Emily are excited to welcome W&D's first industry hero to the show. Regina took time out of her hectic schedule to wine with us. Regina is the show director and host of a little show called The Broads Way, recurring every Monday at 9pm at Michael's Outpost in Montrose, Houston. The Broads Way was voted the Best Drag Show in Houston in 2018 and also raised money via Facebook Live during Hurricane Harvey in 2017. Featured in Buzzfeed, NPR, OutSmart Magazine, NBC, and news channels alike, Regina dips into her life in and out of drag!
Regina learned the art of "reading" from Paris is Burning and is listening to High Road by Kesha on repeat.

Who doesn't love a story of star-crossed lovers? Especially when they are fantastic! This week Chelsea and Emily dive into the longest running show in the world, the Fantasticks. The Fantasticks was produced with a fantastically low budget- W&D can relate, as our mic issues will prove. Chelsea wines about her princess commute gone wrong while Emily tries to "thinky" but Chelsea just keeps urging her to "drinky".
See The Fantasticks at Stages Houston, now until March 12.
Check out Paul Hope Cabaret's upcoming concert, That Old Black Magic- Harold Arlen in the 40s on Mondays February 7, February 24, and March 2nd at 7:30pm at Ovations Night Club. Use promo: DOLLS to save $5 at checkout.
Take Broadway 101 on Mondays at 6:45 and check out all the classes offered at Houston Divine Studio.
Wine donated by Rigel at Why?Know! Tastings.

WE ARE IN THE DOUBLE DIGITS! It is hard to believe Wines and Dolls has 10 episodes available to be judged by the general public. Sometimes as hosts Chelsea and Emily experience imposter syndrome. And this is ...wait for it... STRESSFUL! We cover the not-so-fun topic of STRESS. Everyone experiences stress in their lives. In the theatre world, it can manifest in many ways. Emily noticed her brown hair beginning to color block with grey. Trendy or nah? But theatre stress sometimes even haunts us in our sleep. Chelsea listens as Emily discloses her most recent vivid, near lucid, stress dream. Chelsea recommends reading I Thought It was Just Me (but it isn't) by Brené Brown, PhD, LMSW (a lot of the alphabet). Needless to say, we all experience stress and would love to wine with you! Little Shop! Little Shop of Horr-ORS (not WHORES)! Chelsea and Emily cover one of the most over produced musicals ever. Emily refers to Little Shop of Horrors as the rite of passage show, of which (sadly?) she has never been a part. Chelsea has been in the show enough to cover for Emily's lack, yet her resume is still lacking a certain role. We welcome our first guest to the show; the mysterious name and possibly imaginary person that has become a drinking game. The name, the wo/man, the legend! Grab a drink, Click play, and join us somewhere that's green!

BEETLEJUICE, BEETLEJUICE, BEETLE-CHAMPAGNE! Chelsea and Emily are wining about all of the shows that closed or are closing on Broadway this January. Closings are sad, especially after long runs. The question of how performers stay energetic and keep shows fresh is abundant among patrons of the theatre. We are here to tell you about our tricks of how to keep a show fresh during long runs, whether it is 10 performances or 10 MONTHS of performances!

Disney's Frozen: the Broadway Musical- the title even contains 3 of our favorite words. Join Chelsea and Emily on their exploration of Arendelle. We are cozy on the couch as we unwrap belated Christmas gifts and sip on our generic drink...wine. Frozen the Musical has so many amazing tech, costume, and music functions that we have to dive into them all. Maybe even try the "Sven Workout"...plank on stilts for two hours. Maybe not.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Grab your flapper and Charleston into the new decade!! We are kicking off the roaring ‘20s with our favorite, thoroughly modern musical! We tap into the bubbly and discuss the entertaining and “borderline offensive” Thoroughly Modern Millie. TMM is near and dear to our hearts, bringing us both down memory lane of performing in productions of TMM *mumblemumble* years ago. So Gimme Gimme that thing called Champagne. Cheers with us to ring in the new decade! Pass the sweet potato chips, please!
