Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will go over Proverb 10.  I will have a special guest today from Italy - Giuseppe Quarata.  He is a 2nd year student at Charis Bible College in Woodland Park, CO.  I will ask him about his childhood, his story of when he received Jesus as his Lord and Savior.  We will discuss how he left a high paying job because he felt his life was empty.  He completed the first year of Charis on line in Switzerland.  He is now here in Colorado and getting ready to complete his 2nd year.  He has also met the girl that he intends to marry.  He was a true joy to have on this podcast and I promised him that I would have him return as a guest again next school year.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 31.  I will then key in on verse 4:  An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who causes shame is like rottenness in his bones.  I will key in on the first part of that verse.  For the husbands out there, this is my advice for you - if you treat your wife as though she is a Proverb 31 woman, she can (and eventually will) become that.  Treat your wife as she is the most important person in the world to you (because she should be) and see what happens.  Today, I will begin a study on the book of James.  For those of you who may not know James was a half-brother of Jesus.  He grew up with Jesus and lived in the same household with him.  So - when you hear James speak, you very well could be hearing the words of Jesus.  There are so many practical applications that we can learn from the entire book of James. Today I will be focusing on James, Chapter 1: verses 1-11 only.  I will read these verses in their entirety.  From these verse (2-11) I came up with three things that we can come away with:  1.  Trials will come our way - (it doesn't matter how we live our lives; trials will come our way.  Whether you live a blessed life or a life with confusion and anxiety mainly will depend on how you react to the unexpected circumstances which life brings our way; 2. If you lack wisdom, ask God for it (and He will give it to you).  I have quoted this verses many times since I began this podcast on April 1st, but today I will add a twist to it.  You must ask "by faith."  If there is not any faith when you pray, the wisdom will not come your way.  Think about that!; 3.  The poor and rich view life differently - (we'll get into that a bit later in the 2nd chapter of James.  I will focus on the rich man - (and that he should not put his faith on his money, or riches, but he should put his faith in God).  God is our source.  If you are poor and unexpected circumstances come, it is an opportunity to learn patience.

Welcome to Lessons from the Psalms with Bill Kelley. Today we will be taking a look at Psalm 9. Psalm 9 was written by King David and was originally created to be sung at a church service. This psalm is a very good reminder of why so many people turn to psalms on a regular basis. It is uplifting and an encouragement for each of us. In the first two verses David is praising God - as we should do on a regular basis. Verses 3-6 remind us that, sometimes in life, things will not go our way. People may come against us. We even may face persecution of some kind. But, in verse 7 this psalm reminds us that, eventually, the Lord shall endure forever. As long as we are seeking Him, things will be alright. Verses 9 & 10 tell us that the Lord shall be a refuge to all who call upon His name. That is so comforting to know. Verse 12 tells us that He will not forget the cry of the humble. This verse reminds us that we need to come to God humbly, and not with a proud spirit. God certainly doesn't like that. Verse 14 reminds us that Jesus is our salvation. He came to Earth to forgive us of all of our sins, and to put us back in right standing with God. The rest of this psalm talks about our world today. How the leadership of this country, and, indeed, much of the world are encouraging us to live our lives as though God does not exist. But, He does, and David is praying to God that man will not prevail in the end. As we know, God ultimately will prevail - if we keep our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 9. I will then key in on verses 10-12 - The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For by me your days will be multiplied, And years of life will b e added to you. If you are wise, you are wise for yourself, And if you scoff, you will bear it alone. Friends, these three verses declare a very real truth - that if you are wise (and use wisdom in your life) that years of life will be added to you! Praise God! On today's podcast I will begin by reviewing the three points I introduced last week (see Episode (#805 - if you did not get a chance to tune in to that podcast I invite you to do so). The first "marker" last week that I brought up is mature Christians tend to have a deepening prayer life. The second "marker" is that maturing as a Christian is demonstrated by having unwavering faith during trials. By the end of today's lesson there are three things I ask that you consider:

1. The testing of your faith produces patience.

2. The testing of our faith is more precious than gold.

3. Be still and know that I am God.

Prior to beginning today's lesson I will review the three points that I introduced on yesterday's lesson (Episode #808 - If you did not get a chance to tune in, I invite you to do so). I will then continue our study of the Book of Ephesians - reading verses 10-20). By the end of today's lesson there are three points I ask that you consider:

1. We should consistently be in prayer.

2. We should pray for others, as well as ourselves.

3. We are to be ambassadors for Christ - to further advance the Kingdom of God.

Friends, there will often be times when someone that we come in contact with will try to throw us off of our games. It may be people we know (or people that we have never met before). We need to always be mindful of who we are (children of the living God). On today's podcast I will begin by reviewing the three points I introduced on Monday's podcast (Episode #806 - if you did not get a chance to tune in to that podcast I invite you to do so). I will then go over the passage of scripture found in Ephesians, Chapter 6, verses 10-20 entitled the Whole Armor of God. By the end of today's podcast there are three things I ask that you consider:

1. We afre to bring the "Good News" (Gospel) everywhere we go.

2. The sword of the Spirit is the only offensive weapon in the believer's armor.

3. As Christians, we should be sober, living a disciplined life, and being alert to spiritual realities.

Today we will be going over the 6th Chapter of the Book of Ephesians - verses 14-20. By the end of today's lesson there are three things I ask that you consider:

1. A dishonest Christian cannot hope to withstand the father of lies himself.

2. Righteousness shall be the belt of His loins, And faithfulness the belt of His waist.

3. The shield of faith will enable you to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
