Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 19. I will then key in on verse 8 - He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; He who keeps understanding will find good. Friends, our soul is very important to God - as is acquiring wisdom. If we stay in the Word of God (the Bible) on a regular basis, we will acquire wisdom. On today's podcast I will go over a passage of scripture that should encourage you moving forward into the weekend. The three things I will focus on are found in the title of this message. By the end of this lesson these are the three things I ask that you consider:

1. We should rejoice always.

2. We should pray without ceasing (we are thinking all the time - either worrying, being anxious, or, hopefully in prayer to God).

3. In everything we should give thanks (not FOR everything, but in anything). There are so many things that we should be thankful for. Let's live our lives with "an attitude of gratitude." - giving thanks to God for all He has done in our lives!

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 18. I will then key in on verses 10 & 11- The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe. The rich man's wealth is his strong city, And like a high wall in his own esteem. Friends, people who are rich tend to put their faith in their wealth, while people who trust in the Lord look to Him for their strength. On today's podcast I will begin by reviewing the three points I had brought up on yesterday's podcast (Episode #881 - If you did not get a chance to tune in to that podcast I invite you to check it out). I will then begin Chapter 11 of the Gospel, according to Luke. We will go over the first 6 verses today. By the end of today's lesson there are three things I ask that you consider:

1. Jesus contrasted the giving of the rich with the sacrifice of the poor widow.

2. He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

3. Jesus predicts the destruction of the temple.

I will then key in on verse 3 - The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, But the Lord tests the hearts. Friends, Jesus came down hard against the Jewish religious leaders. He instructed his disciples to do what these men said to do, but NOT to do according to what they did. In other words, he said they were hypocrites. On today's podcast we will be continuing our study of the Gospel, according to Luke. We will be going over verses 41-47, going over two brief passages of scripture which we can learn some valuable lessons from. By the end of today's lesson there are three things I ask that you consider:

1. Even David one day will bow at the Messiah's feet and confess that He is Lord.

2. Once Jesus ascended into heaven He now sits at the right hand of God.

3. Their hearts were filled with all kinds of envy, hatred, and malice.

Ray is a good friend of mine that I met at church and that is part of my Thursday morning mens' golf group. Ray was born in 1938 in Georgia. He will share a bit about his parents and some remembrances of his childhood. He will talk about his life as a college student majoring in engineering and meeting his wife. They ended up getting married in 1960 and have just celebrated their 65th anniversary. He shares how he had a double wedding, and how different that was! He shares some of the secrets about staying married through the good times and the more challenging times.

I will then key in on verse 2 - The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, But the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness. Friends, fools do not think about the words that will come out of their mouth prior to speaking. People with wisdom will choose their words carefully (prior to speaking). On today's podcast I will begin by reviewing the three points I brought up on last Thursday's podcast (Episode #878 - If you did not get a chance to tune in to that podcast, I invite you to do so). I will then go over a passage of scripture entitled, "The Sadduccees: What About the Resurrection?" This will cover verses 27-40 of Luke, Chapter 20. By the end of today's lesson there are three things I ask that you consider:

1. The Sadducees did not believe in the resurrection.

2. In the resurrection we will be given resurrection bodies similar to Jesus's body.

3. For He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for all live to Him.

Friends, we are to live righteous lives (to the best of our ability). On today's podcast I will go over the instructions that Jesus gave us on the Sermon on the Mount. These are the first words that came out of Jesus's mouth to His disciples after He told everyone to repent. By the end of today's lesson there are three things I ask that you consider:

1. Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth.

2. Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.

3. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad when people revile and persecute you.

This verse - like many verses in the Book of Proverbs often contrast those who have pride as compared to those who have humility. This verse declares that shame will "attach itself" to those who have pride, while those who practice humility will have wisdom. On today's podcast we will continue our study of the Gospel, according to Luke. Today we will go over a passage of scripture entitled Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar? By the end of today's lesson there are three things I ask that you consider:

1. Their common hatred of Christ was great enough that the Pharisees and Herodians joined forces against Him.

2. Peter forcefully commands Christians to submit voluntarily to governing authorities.

3. We should treat everyone with love and respect.
