  • Day 347 – Your Life Plan Blueprint™ – The Purpose of Goals (4)

    Wisdom-Trek / Creating a Legacy
Welcome to Day 347 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.
This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom
Your Life Plan Blueprint – The Purpose of Goals (4)

Thank you for joining us for our 7 days a week, 7 minutes of wisdom podcast. This is Day 347 of our trek, and last week we began a detailed series, which we originally introduced in January, called Your Life Plan Blueprint. We have synthesized the information into a 100 page PDF manual/workbook which contains all forms needed to create and maintain your personal life plan.

This is our initial release of the manual/workbook, and it is available for download at Wisdom-Trek.com on the left-hand sidebar of any page. Or, if you are listening on your smartphone, you can text the word LifePlan (with no spaces) to 44222, and Your Life Plan Blueprint will be delivered to you in an email. The manual/workbook is free during the month of May, so I would encourage you to become one of our early adopters so that all updates will be available to you for free also. By the end of 2016, we will have a complete web/mobile version available of Your Life Plan Blueprint.

Thank you so much for coming along with me as we trek through each page of Your Life Plan Blueprint. If you would like to listen to any of the past episodes, please go to Wisdom-Trek.com to listen to them and read the daily journal. You can also subscribe to Wisdom-Trek on iTunes, Spreaker, Stitcher, Soundcloud, iHeart Radio, and Google Play, so each day’s trek will be downloaded to you automatically.

We are broadcasting from our studio at Home2 in Charlotte, North Carolina. We have made some good progress on our project list this week, but there is certainly much to keep us busy. We are looking forward to having our grandson Kip stay with us on Thursday night and Friday as his parents will be out of town for that evening. We will be dropping him back off at his home as we head north to Marietta Friday evening.

As we will be completing a full year of daily treks at the end of May, we are brought to a reflection point on what direction to take Wisdom-Trek starting on June 1st. We have a lot of projects in the planning stage, all of which take time. We want to make sure that our impact is effective as possible, so we need your assistance on how best to serve you. Please email me at [email protected], or leave a comment at the bottom of today’s journal to let me know if you would like me to continue Wisdom-Trek on a 7 day, 5 day, or 3 day per week schedule. Also, let me know if you would like any changes to the format of the daily trek. Thank you in advance for your feedback!

It is now time to get started on the ninth day of Your Life Plan Blueprint workbook. If you missed any of the previous days in this series, they are available at Wisdom-Trek.com. Today we will finish up our in-depth analysis of the Purpose of Goals within Your Life Plan Blueprint and briefly touch on my personal trek.

    The Purpose of Goals (4)

If you are following along in the manual/workbook, we will first cover page 17 the sixth purpose of goals, which is to live your best life. So, let’s get started on our trek for today.

Now let’s move onto a brief look at my personal trek, which is located on page 18 of the manual/workbook, before we jump into the framework Your Life Plan Blueprint.

Today you explored the final purposes on the pursuit of your goals, which is to live your best life, and I shared a bit from my personal trek. This foundation that we formed with the purpose of goals will allow you to gain the solid footing needed on your trails of life so that you can properly create your life plan.

Tomorrow we will start to dig into the actual heart of life planning as we look at the introduction of the WESPER framework and an overview of the Wheel of Life, which are located on pages 19-21 of Your Life Plan Blueprint manual/workbook. So, encourage your friends and family to join us, and then come along tomorrow for another day of our Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.

That will finish our trek for today. As you enjoy your daily dose of wisdom, we ask you to help us grow Wisdom-Trek by sharing with your family and friends through email, Facebook, Twitter, or in person, so they can come along with us each day.

Thank you for allowing me to be your guide, mentor, and most of all your friend as I serve you through the Wisdom-Trek podcast and journal each day.

As we take this trek together, let us always:

    1. Live Abundantly (Fully)
    2. Love Unconditionally
    3. Listen Intentionally
    4. Learn Continuously
    5. Lend to others Generously
    6. Lead with Integrity
    7. Leave a Living Legacy Each Day

    8. This is Guthrie Chamberlain reminding you to Keep Moving Forward, Enjoy Your Journey, and Create a Great Day Every Day! See you tomorrow!

Today we explored the two additional purposes on the pursuit of goals which are, being accountable and being the best that you can possibly be. This is allowing you to gain the solid footing needed on your trails of life so that you can properly create your life plan. Tomorrow we will cover the final purpose of goals located on page 17 and then briefly inspect my personal trek on page 18 of Your Life Plan Blueprint manual/workbook. We are broadcasting from our studio at Home2 in Charlotte, North Carolina. This past weekend was filled with fun family activities that were such a blessing. Friday evening we picked up 5 rose plants, and I got them planted on Saturday morning. We also had a late lunch and a great visit with Janet and Rowan at their home and were able to get some car repairs completed on Paula’s mom’s car. Sunday after a blessed time of worship at our local church, we had Buddy, Chelimo, Kip, Janet, Rowan, Fred, and Doug over for a Mother’s Day cookout. We also celebrated Buddy finishing his Masters of Arts degree in International Affairs. We are proud of his accomplishment.

It is now time to get started on the fifth day of Your Life Plan Blueprint workbook. Today we will continue with…

            Changing Your Thought Patterns (5)

There are seven attributes that are needed when changing your thought patterns, and so far we have explored: Trust, Thankfulness, Truth, Timing, Travail and the Tempter on pages 3-9 of Your Life Plan Blueprint. Today we will continue with the final point, number 7, which is that you must be Teachable in order to change your thought patterns. This attribute is located on page 10 of the manual.

Today we have finished up on our trail of Changing Your Thought Patterns so that we can properly create our life plans. We learned how very valuable the attribute of being teachable really is. All seven of these traits are essential to make sure that we are thinking properly so that we will be prepared to create our life plan and living legacy.

Tomorrow we will begin our exploration with our life plan introduction, which covers the purpose of goals. This section which will cover pages 11-17 of Your Life Plan Blueprint manual/workbook will span the next few days. If you have not done so already, please download Your Life Plan Blueprint from the Wisdom-Trek.com website or text the word LifePlan to 44222 to receive a copy in your email. Also please encourage your friends and family to join us, and then come along tomorrow for another day of our Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.

There are seven attributes that are needed when changing your thought patterns and so far we have explored: Trust, Thankfulness, Truth, Timing, and Travail on pages 3-7 of Your Life Plan Blueprint. Today we will continue with point number 6, which is the role the Tempter has on our thought patterns. This attribute is located on pages 8 and 9 of the manual.

Today we have continued on our extended trail preparing our thoughts so that we can properly create our life plan. We covered the crucial role that the Tempter plays in trying to sabotage us into negative and fatalistic thought patterns. We can have victory over this.

Tomorrow we explore the final thought pattern that is needed, which is to be teachable. We will also start the introduction portion of creating your life plan. So, encourage your friends and family to join us, and then come along tomorrow for another day of our Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.

That will finish our trek for today. As you enjoy your daily dose of wisdom, we ask you to help us grow Wisdom-Trek by sharing with your family and friends through email, Facebook, Twitter, or in person, so they can come along with us each day.

Thank you for allowing me to be your guide, mentor, and most of all your friend as I serve you through the Wisdom-Trek podcast and journal each day.

As we take this trek together, let us always:

              1. Live Abundantly (Fully)
              2. Love Unconditionally
              3. Listen Intentionally
              4. Learn Continuously
              5. Lend to others Generously
              6. Lead with Integrity
              7. Leave a Living Legacy Each Day

              9. Day 341 – Your Life Plan Blueprint™ – Changing Your Thought Patterns (3)

                Wisdom-Trek / Creating a Legacy
Welcome to Day 341 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.
This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom
Your Life Plan Blueprint – Changing Your Thought Patterns (3)

Thank you for joining us for our 7 days a week, 7 minutes of wisdom podcast. This is Day 341 of our trek, and this week we began a detailed series, which we originally introduced in January, called Your Life Plan Blueprint. We have synthesized the information into a 100 page PDF manual/workbook which contains all forms needed to create and maintain your personal life plan.

On our Wisdom-Trek for the remainder of this month we will walk you through each page of Your Life Plan Blueprint, so by the end of the month you will have your life plan in place and written down. This is our initial release of the workbook, and it is available for download at Wisdom-Trek.com on the left-hand sidebar of any page. If you are listening on your smartphone, you can text the word LifePlan (with no spaces) to 44222, and Your Life Plan Blueprint will be delivered to you in an email.

We are encouraging you to join us on this trek to create your personal life plan and are offering Your Life Plan Blueprint workbook at no cost during the month of May. I would encourage you to download it as soon as you have an opportunity, and you will become part of our early adopter group. This will entitle you to free updates to the workbook as we make revisions to it based on your feedback.

Regardless of your age, life planning is a crucial practice that few people ever complete properly. That is why most people wander aimlessly through life. This is not surprising because until now there was not an easy-to-use tool to complete a life plan. I would encourage you to follow along in the workbook each day during our daily trek, as I will be going through each page of Your Life Plan Blueprint during the remainder of this month.

The first several days I will lay the groundwork for your life plan, but there are sections of the workbook where you will fill in your own life plan information on your computer, smartphone, or a printed copy. The PDF workbook should allow you to save all your information on the screen as we go through each section.

I recommend using Adobe Acrobat’s free PDF Reader so that you can fill in the workbook on your computer or smartphone. The current Acrobat version is # XI. As we go through the workbook, I would really appreciate your feedback on ways that we can enhance and improve the workbook or my presentation of this information.

My long-term plan is to create a web/mobile version of Your Life Plan Blueprint, which will allow you to seamlessly update all areas online and keep the information current. As an early adopter to Your Life Plan Blueprint, you will be the first ones to know when it is available. When we create the web/mobile version later this year, we will also be creating a video tutorial training course for it.

Thank you so much for coming along with me as we trek through each page of the workbook. I will keep you posted on which pages of the workbook that I am currently covering each day.

You can join us at any time and start along with us from that point on, but to maximize the impact of Your Life Plan Blueprint, I would recommend, as you have time, that you start at the beginning with Day 339 of our trek.

As mentioned during our trek yesterday, we are coming to a reflection point at the end of May as we will be completing a full year of daily treks. I need your assistance on how best to serve you. Please email me at [email protected] or leave a comment at the bottom of today’s journal and let me know if you would like me to continue Wisdom-Trek 7 days, 5 days, or 3 days per week. Also, let me know if you would like any changes to the format of the daily trek. Thank you in advance for your feedback!

It is now time to get started on the third day of Your Life Plan Blueprint workbook. Today we will continue with…

                Changing Your Thought Patterns (3)

There are seven points to consider when changing your thought patterns and so far we have reviewed points 1-4 which are contained on pages 3-6 of Your Life Plan Blueprint. Today we will continue with point number 5 which is located on page 7:

Today we have continued on our extended trail on life-planning covering the crucial thought pattern of Travail. Tomorrow we will begin on page 8 with the thought pattern of the Tempter. So, encourage your friends and family to join us, and then come along tomorrow for another day of our Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.

That will finish our trek for today. As you enjoy your daily dose of wisdom, we ask you to help us grow Wisdom-Trek by sharing with your family and friends through email, Facebook, Twitter, or in person so they can come along with us each day.

Thank you for allowing me to be your guide, mentor, and most of all your friend as I serve you through the Wisdom-Trek podcast and journal each day.

We have synthesized the information into a 100 page PDF manual/workbook with many pages of fill-in-the-blank forms (beta version) which is available for download at Wisdom-Trek.com on the left-hand sidebar of any page. If you are listening on your smartphone text the word LifePlan (with no spaces) to 44222 and Your Life Plan Blueprint will be delivered to you in an email. Our trek through Your Life Plan Blueprint will span the remainder of the month of May, but you can join us at any time and start along with us from that point on. To maximize the capability of Your Life Plan Blueprint, I would recommend, as you have time, that you start at the beginning with Day 339 of our trek.

I would like to take a couple extra minutes on our trek today to ask a favor of you, which will be very helpful. By the time we finish going through Your Life Plan Blueprint at the end of May, we will have completed a full year of Wisdom-Trek. We are in the process of creating monthly journal volumes from the entire year of Wisdom-Trek that can be used as a study guide. Volume 1 is ready and will be released very soon.

As we do come to the end of a full year of daily treks, it is a time for reflection, and I would like to solicit your input. The time involved in creating, recording, and editing our daily treks is extensive, and while I love creating it, there are many other related projects that also require my time. I am contemplating just releasing daily treks three days a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to free up some time for other projects. Would you please email me at [email protected] or leave a comment on the bottom of today’s journal page and let me know if you would like me to continue 7 days a week, 5 days a week, or 3 days a week. If you would like me to change the format in any manner, please let me know that also. I would really appreciate all feedback. Thank you in advance!

It is now time to get started on the second day of Your Life Plan Blueprint workbook. Today we will continue with…

Your Life Plan Blueprint – Changing Your Thought Patterns (1)

Hello, my friend, and welcome to Wisdom-Trek! This is Guthrie Chamberlain, and I am your Guide to Wisdom and Creating a Living Legacy. Thank you for joining us for our 7 days a week, 7 minutes of wisdom podcast.

This is Day 339 of our trek. The past two days we focused our trek on the legacy trail and learned what it means to create, live, and leave a legacy. Today we are beginning a longer series that we introduced in January covering Your Life Plan Blueprint. We have completed our draft or beta version of the PDF workbook and will be going through the workbook in detail as we teach you to use Your Life Plan Blueprint.

Our long term plan by the end of 2016 is to create a web/mobile version of Your Life Plan Blueprint which will allow it to update seamlessly between all categories. As we go through this series, it will be a slightly different and less structured format, so please feel free to provide us feedback so that we can improve the delivery of the course materials. As we are creating the web/mobile version later this year, we will also be creating a video tutorial training course. The exciting news for anyone that goes through Your Life Plan Blueprint with us now as part of our beta program, you can download the workbook for free and we will provide you with updates as they become available.

The workbook is available at Wisdom-Trek.com on the lefthand sidebar of any page. I would encourage you to download it as soon as you have an opportunity. If you are listening on your smart phone text the word LifePlan with no spaces to 44222 and Your Life Plan Blueprint will be delivered to you in an email. I recommend using Adobe Acrobat’s free PDF Reader so that you can fill in the workbook on your computer or smart phone. The current Acrobat version is # IX.

Thank you so much for coming along with me as we hike through each page of the workbook. I will keep you posted on which pages of the workbook that I am currently covering each day. Our trek through Your Life Plan Blueprint will span multiple days, but you can join us at any time and start along with us from that point on. To maximize the capability of Your Life Plan Blueprint, I would recommend that you go back and start with Day 339 of our trek.

Interwoven within the life plan I do include a lot of Bible verses, which support many of the premises of the plan. Even if you do not consider yourself a person of the Christian faith, come along with us on our plan. It will have real and practical application for everyone. It is now time to get started with the first day of Your Life Plan Blueprint workbook. Today we will start with…

                    Changing Your Thought Patterns (1)

Today we have just begun our extended trail on life-planning which includes the beta version of Your Life Plan Blueprint workbook which is available for download on the sidebar of Wisdom-Trek.com or by texting the word LifePlan (with no spaces) to 44222. Both options will send you the workbook in an email. So, encourage your friends and family to join us, and then come along tomorrow for another day of Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.

That will finish our trek for today. Just as you enjoy your daily dose of wisdom, we ask you to help us grow Wisdom-Trek by sharing with your family and friends through email, Facebook, Twitter, or in person so they can come along with us each day.

Thank you for allowing me to be your guide, mentor, and most of all your friend as I serve you through the Wisdom-Trek podcast and journal each day.

                      Wisdom-Trek / Creating a Legacy
Welcome to Day 338 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.
This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom
Creating, Living, and Leaving Your Legacy #2

Thank you for joining us for our 7 days a week, 7 minutes of wisdom podcast. This is Day 338 of our trek. Yesterday and today we are focusing our trek on the legacy trail. Tomorrow we will shift our focus to discovering and implementing your life purpose through the beta version of Your Life Plan Blueprint Course. This may be a bit of a different format, so please feel free to provide us feedback.

Thank you so much for coming along with me on our daily trek through life as we are creating, living, and leaving a legacy, which is made possible as we grow in our wisdom, insight, and understanding. While some of our daily treks span multiple days, you can join us at any time and start along with us from that point on. If you would like to listen to any of the past episodes, please go to Wisdom-Trek.com to listen to them and read the daily journal. You can also subscribe to Wisdom-Trek on iTunes, Spreaker, Stitcher, Soundcloud, iHeart Radio, and Google Play so each day’s trek will be downloaded to you automatically.

We are broadcasting from our studio at Home2 in Charlotte, North Carolina. On Sunday, we wrapped up some loose ends at The Big House and headed back to our southern home. The weather was pleasant for our drive, and it was an uneventful trip as Paula and I shared driving responsibilities.

While I was driving, I finished the audio version of the book Essentialism by Greg McKeown. It is one of the better books that I have listened to recently. Greg makes some very interesting and good points that our lives can be much more effective when we when we pursue less. This is certainly a practice that I have been trying to implement in my life, so this book was definitely worth listening to. Living effective and impactful lives does not require that we obtain wealth, status, or an abundance of material things. Effectiveness and impact on the lives of others comes from what we are within.

This is what you should desire as you continue your focus on…

Creating, Living, and Leaving Your Legacy #2

Yesterday we established the first three points on a plan of action for legacy. We explored what it means to understand your legacy, deciding to choose your legacy, and then focusing on your legacy. Once you have completed this, you can move forward to…

                      4. Live Your Legacy

Now that you have a plan of action, it’s time to implement it. You will need to answer this question, “What must you change in the way you conduct yourself so that you live that legacy?” Your list may include behavioral changes, character development, education, working methods, relationship-building style, and other crucial elements. By changing the way you live, you will be able to create and live the legacy you want to leave for the world each day.

By changing the way you live, you will be able to create and live the legacy you want to leave for the world each day.Tweet This

We all experience seasons of life and by living your legacy each day, your actions will be leaving a legacy. This action can be compared to passing the baton in a relay race. If you’ve ever watched a relay race, the most important moment of the race is the passing of the baton. The art of handing off that baton is quite spectacular when it’s done well. In western society, we don’t put that much credence on sitting at the feet of our elders and allowing them to transfer to us the legacy of their lives. I think that’s a great loss, and one of my passions is to change this through our daily Wisdom-Trek podcast.

Even if you don’t consider yourself an elder, if you have anyone who is being impacted by you, then you are the baton-passer. If you are a young father with children, prepare them for the race and be ready to pass the baton when appropriate. Practicing passing the baton is something that occurs little by little each day. Some day we will all take on the role of the elder, or you could say the baton-passer. Who will be your recipient? Who will you invite to sit at your feet?

Picture your life and the people in it as a succession of increasingly larger rings reaching out from a center point, which is you! Now think about how you can impact your legacy upon the people of those rings, starting with your family. Both your actions and words are your living legacy. You will leave a legacy behind for your children and younger family members, so make sure that you lead by example as well as by what you say. As they grow older, these younger generations will likely seek your wisdom and want to hear about your life experiences. Live in such a way that your experiences will be worth sharing and then share the lessons that have meant the most to you.

Back to the analogy of the rings. For many, the next ring outward is one’s primary occupation. Think about whom you could mentor in your work environment and how you might do that. Which of your core strengths could benefit others in their pursuit of a successful and meaningful life? As you get to know and work with others, where do you see unrealized potential, and how can you help them unleash it?

Many might think that today’s cutthroat business environment isn’t the place for cultivating such relationships. I look at it differently. The very soul of a free society and economy, at its heart, has an enormously generous spirit. We are starting to see a resurgence of the idea that business shouldn’t solely be about profit-making but contributing to people’s lives in a meaningful way. I realize there is certainly room for improvement.

The culture of work has largely become fragmented by people trying to serve their own needs and short-term loyalties. There is a great need for you to live your legacy, which will bring positive impact with your work team.

There is a great need for you to live your legacy, which will bring positive impact with your work team.Tweet This

The next circle out in our analogy of those persons that are impacted by our living legacy are those you may not know well personally. This may take you out of your comfort zone, but your life can still impact them either directly or through others that you are impacting. Your living legacy will ripple through eternity.

You have experience and knowledge that others do not. Through living your legacy, as you share, you will help others in areas of their lives that you cannot even image. It is rewarding to see that “lightbulb” moment, illuminating the lives of generations to come, helping them navigate the road ahead. What’s the purpose of having 60, 80, 100 years of life unless we are willing to positively impact the lives of others?

It brings no value to others to have an enormous wealth of experiences if you do not share it. You must invest your time, talent and treasures to teach and to give it back. Who you really are in life is what survives you in death. That’s really a very different sort of concept. You need to step out of this moment in time and think about yourself in the chain of life from generation to generation. Then you need to take the steps necessary to make something of yourself and to share it so that your life will have an eternal impact.

Regardless of whether your wealth is money or experience 1 Timothy 6:17-19 gives us a great pattern to follow, “Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life.”

Yesterday and today on our trek we focused on creating, living, and leaving our legacy. Tomorrow we move into an extended trail on life-planning, which will include the beta version of Your Life Plan Blueprint workbook that will be available for download.

As we take this trek together, let us always:
