I'm very fascinated and intrigued by one simple yet powerful tool that we all possess. This one habit, this one tool can help us in our personal and professional lives. It can help us be happier and healthier. It's something that we're all born with. Some of us don't know how to use it. Others don't use it much. It's a tool that's right underneath our nose and I'm talking about a smile. Smiles are critically important to our lives. What if you could increase your mood, increase your likelihood of a promotion, and improve the lives of those around you? Check out this week's "Wisdom with Charlie Perkins" which is available on Apple Podcast, Amazon Music, Amazon Alexa, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Google Podcast, and all major platforms.
What if everyone had a chance to tell their story? Stories teach us about life, about ourselves, and about others. It's also a unique way to develop an understanding, respect, and appreciation for other cultures. It boosts our feelings of things like trust, compassion, and empathy. Stories motivate us to work with others and positively influence our social behavior. Because of this, stories have a unique ability to build connections. I believe everyone's story counts and we should all share them. Check out this week's "Wisdom with Charlie Perkins" which is available on Apple Podcast, Amazon Music, Amazon Alexa, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Google Podcast, and all major platforms.
Soft skills are the skills that you will need to be a better professional and a better person. You may know the hard skills, but you need to work well with others (some call it the external soft skills), and manage yourself better (the internal soft skills) to get further in your career. As technology has evolved, soft skills or interpersonal/communicative interactions, have as well. Eye contact, heartfelt responses, and borrowing a cup of sugar from a neighbor have been replaced with text messages, emojis, and Instacart. It has created a soft skills gap. You will get better at the soft skills with practice. Check out this week's "Wisdom with Charlie Perkins" which is available on Apple Podcast, Amazon Music, Amazon Alexa, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Google Podcast, and all major platforms.
A simple way to start changing to a growth mindset is using a little word, yet. In essence, the word means a realization that some things are worth waiting for, and those things take work. It's not always easy, but the power of this small word allows for success. Yet implies that something is achievable. Yet puts a person back in charge of their destiny. A great way to integrate the power of yet into all that you do is to identify where you're using the word 'can't'. All you need to do is add the word 'yet' on the end and you're there. I can't ride a bike… yet. "Wisdom with Charlie Perkins" is available on Apple Podcast, Amazon Music, Amazon Alexa, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Google Podcast, and all major platforms.

Gandhi said, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” Many wonderful things will never be done if you do not do them, and volunteering for me is one such thing. In this episode, I redefine community service by urging people to stop engaging in activities that make them miserable, because misery is contagious. Instead, I urge people to find a volunteer job that makes them excited and to use their passion to brighten the life of another person. So let me ask you. What is your passion? What is your bliss? How will you affect the lives of future generations? Whatever it is, volunteer or support it in whatever way you are able. You’ll be glad you did. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I want to talk about gratitude. Even during the greatest difficulties, you will experience in life, you can always find things for which you are truly grateful. On this week’s podcast, I’ll share strategies for showing and reflecting gratitude. one of the most important things that you can do is to take a piece of paper and write down all the things for which you are truly grateful, and by the way, you're going to need more than one piece of paper. if you take the time to write these things down on paper, you'll be amazed at what you come up with. I’d like for you to develop the habit of practicing the four A's (Appreciation, Approval, Admiration, and Attention).
