Backed by 2 decades of friendship that began in college and persisted through their careers (one, a family's succession into media; the other, fired by his mom); they use their frank approach, infectious laughter, and impeccably-timed jokes to discuss everything from the Ryle Kittenhouse verdict to exactly how fast fast food should be. They really don't need me to get you to fall in love with them, which is why you hear very little from me. I edited my dumbass out of a lot of this episode because the magic, the secret sauce is in hearing these men who had the hunger, humility and willingness to learn and put in the work, thrive. Listen in as they discuss their career paths, how they were shaped by their time at both PWIs and HBCUs, the difference between male and female friendships, and how many minutes of "The Notebook" is enough. "There's a bit of me in every one of the guys...except Jose". My happily married, 30-something brother watches "Married at First Sight" and we usually call each other to debrief the show. Since the last episodes aired right before Thanksgiving, we didn't get a chance to catch up so we recorded a bonus episode for my podcast instead. If you want to hear a male perspective on the show and end your week with some light sibling banter, buckle up as we talk about each person and play my adaption of "F**ck, Marry, Kill" called "Punch or Brunch".

Jimi Fritz grew up in a town marked by violence and racism. When he dropped out of school at the age of 15, he had no ambitions or goals other than to experience absolutely anything else. In the late 1960s, he was able to cobble together enough money being a musician -- the kind that goes from place to place with a hat on the ground collecting change - to read great literature and travel. Eventually, Jimi tapped into a creative side that was cultivated by experiences to become a musician that was paid in the kind of money that folds. Then he became a filmmaker. And a writer. A husband. A father. And, along the way, an ethical drug dealer. Less Nino Brown, more Walgreens. Jimi has a science-based approach regarding the use of psychedelics as treatments to improve quality of life as well a creative stimulator. Oh, and he thinks those ayahuasca retreats are a scam.

Trista Guertin's father organized trips for students to Europe. Her mother put pins in all the places the family visited in their globe at home. So no one in her family batted an eye when Trista went to France at the age of 16. Nor did they have any reservations about her solo traveling when she was 19. She combined her passions for working internationally and making a difference to a career in supporting displaced populations for over 5 years. Then the pandemic gave her the time to pursue a path to combine, still, her passions for travel and helping others.
