Winnipeg punches way above its weight when it comes to singer-songwriters, and among the latest crop of up-and-comers is dream folk artist Karina Joy!

We chat about their early (we’re talking pre-school) attempts at songwriting and how that process has developed through to today, the appeal of the ukulele and shifting to classical guitar, upcoming shows and recordings, and much more!

Technical difficulties this weekend mean you don't get a new episode (sorry), but you get one that might be new to a lot of you: it's the original episode #069 from spring 2014, featuring folk-inspired singer-songwriters Kevin Roy and Carey Buss!

For those unfamiliar with the archival episodes -- when I moved all of my episodes from one hosting provider to another, years ago, I accidentally missed the inclusion of a couple dozen episodes from 2013-14. They're not currently on the feed if you're scrolling through the episodes on Apple Podcasts/Spotify/whatever.

I've been slowwwwwly re-releasing these over the past few years, and here's another. This one is particularly notable because it has absolutely deadly live performances by each of the guests.

Here's what we said about the episode a decade ago: It’s a rootsy, folky, acoustic episode with live performances by guests Kevin Roy and Carey Buss! Both of these fellers are about to head out west on tour, so we give them a sendoff by talking about the oh-so-fitting (but still randomly-generated) “wood” theme.

Need more from these guests? Kevin (later known as Mister K) was also on episode #210 (Dec. 2016) and #543 (Dec. 2020), while Carey also appeared on #130 (June 2015).

Back to your regularly-scheduled programming in a few days. Thanks.

Long-running psychedelic rockers Holy Void are set to release a new LP, 'All Will Be Revealed In Time', at an epic release show next month.

Need more Holy Void? Check out episode #401 (July 2019).

You probably know A.W. Glen for her work in bands like Bicycle Face, but over the past few years, she’s been working on ‘Bukowski’s Broken Family Band’, a campy horror novel set in a fictionalized version of the local music scene.

Stay tuned for our chat about the book (coming out Nov. 14 via Transistor 66 at an epic release show) and more!
