We gathered in the Holiday Inn Express common space. The events are getting more crowded as the weekend brings in the big guns. On our way to an event at a bike store and brewery in Bettendorf, one of the Quad Cities in eastern Iowa. We could barely hear Amy Klobuchar, but we still had some thoughts on the race.

Busy days in Iowa, with candidates scrambling to get their voters to caucus. Meanwhile, President Trump swoops in.We chat with Joe Walsh, a Republican presidential candidate who does not like Donald Trump. But the president has many supporters. We went to the Trump rally but couldn't get in. Attendees were not allowed to bring lighters in the venue. There were piles of lighters abandoned along the waiting line.  Jeff Kaufman, the Iowa Republican Party Chair, loves the president and he lets everyone know it with his very loud voice.Andrew Yang and Pete Buttigieg talk about big ideas and big hearts.Then there are Iowa voters, who seem to recognize how lucky they are to get so up close with all these candidates.  Photo by Troy Bonnes

David Domke, Troy Bonnes, Andrea Lieberman, and Steve Scher went to hear Joe Biden in Waukee, Iowa. Ani Black, Frida Kumar, and Nancy Miller-Juhos heard the former vice-president at an old Maytag Factory in Newton, Iowa. After his speech, Joe Biden brought Charles Douglas in close for a pep talk.

On the road to Cornell College in picturesque Mount Vernon Iowa where we get to chat with Julian Castro. The former candidate is now stumping for Elizabeth Warren.

Seattle to Minneapolis and on to Des Moines. We gathered in the airport, grabbed our cars and spread out. One group headed to Fairfield Iowa to hear Julian Castro and another headed to a Des Moines barbecue and block party to hear Tom Steyer.
