Welcome back everyone! Season 3 starts with a fantastic musician, Mike Vincent Fisher! His tracks are tight, really refreshing, and lyrically solid. I really enjoyed talking to him about the direction music is going, unpacking some of his songs, and getting some production techniques and insights.

Born and raised in the outskirts of Motown, Detroit, Michigan, Mike Vincent Fisher has a deep passion for emotional, catchy, and soulful music and melodies. 

Cutting his teeth performing solo and in bands across Northwest Florida, MVF eventually made the move out to Austin, TX to pursue a full-time music career. In Austin, Fisher partnered with some of Austin's top performers and industry professionals, eventually performing at major festivals SXSW, Float Fest, Free Week, Red Gorilla Fest, and popular venues like Mohawk, Empire Control Room, Stubb's BBQ, and up-and-down historic 6th st. Through the years, Mike has mainly performed solo, as well as in various bands including O Conqueror, White Label Analog, Too Many Humans, and MVF..

Fisher currently performs lead vocals and keys with band Backseat Soundtrack, and keys and percussion in the band The Human Circuit. In 2020, MVF completed a solo album with Austin producer/engineer Charles Godfrey at Scary American Studios. The solo EP, "Have a Great Summer" was released June 2nd, 2021.

Droplift was created by singer/songwriter Tony Zamora. The sound Droplift has created brings out a Grunge Rock style with a touch of an Indie vibe. The music has barreling vocal harmonies, buzzsaw lead guitars and thumping percussion, which defines Droplift. The group consists of Marshall Benson (lead guitar), Alan Phillips (bass guitar), Craig Cole (drums) and Tony Zamora (rythm guitar/vocals).

This our last interview for a little while, today we talk to Tony Zamora from Droplift. Tony is the first musician that's been on the show that I've actually met! We talk about his music and his band Droplift, which has an awesome 90's grunge sound with some indie influence as well. Tony's vocal's and writing style are perfect for their sound. We also talk about how modern concerts have changed, and how we are sort of missing that "live" sound from these big shows. Enjoy the interview and check out some of Tony's music linked below!

Roxi Copland forges her innovative sound at the crossroads of Americana, blues, and jazz. The Austin, TX-based, multi-award winning singer/songwriter's music is described in the words of one reviewer as “an unlikely mélange of vulnerability, self-reflection, street savvy, humor and sultriness… akin to where Norah Jones might have landed had her affinity for country music manifested differently.” Her most recent full-length release, Bad Decision, has been spun on over a hundred radio stations throughout the US, Canada and western Europe to broad acclaim.

Roxi's vocals are just so great to listen to and they really fit the niche and feeling of the music she writes and arranges. A really great talent to have on WCL, she offers a lot of encouragement and insight to musicians of all genres and levels. A great interview to listen to and some great music to check out!

Sierra Vernon is a singer/songwriter from Austin, Texas - born and raised. Singing about anything, everything, and all of it in between. Performed for unofficial SXSW showcases, small throngs in even smaller bars, and released her EP Midnight At A Coffee Table after an awe inspiring community funding effort.

My apologies to everyone if my voice sounds odd at times. My audio from the original interview was almost unusable, so I listened back to the original interview and recorded my self saying the exact same thing as they were playing back. It was a very experimental way of fixing my audio on this interview, so I apologize if some of the audio or vocal performance  sounds off on my part.

I hope you focus on Sierra's part of the episode because that's where the magic really happened. Hopefully she will return to WCL and we can have another great and even more authentic interview!

Los Angeles-born and Texas-raised artist YI is an electronically-influenced music producer and DJ. YI has expanded his growth throughout Texas and beyond, starring in the show “Polaris Primetime (2017)” on DisneyXD/D|XP as the show’s DJ. Yi was also named the 2nd Top College DJ (2017) of the United States by “CAMPUS DJ,” a nationwide collegiate DJ competition, and has opened for a variety of artists since including Fetty Wap, Prismo, Alison Wonderland, Prince Fox, Bowling For Soup, and more. As a producer, he's worked with the rising Austin rapper "Wrawkstar," and has even worked outside his genre with the rising Folk-Americana band "Christian Sparks and the Beatnik Bandits."

This episode completely caught me off guard! It was a great time talk to Yi, learning about his journey is a pianist, musician, and DJ. It was also cool hearing about his experience acting on t.v. alongside Jimmy Wong and others. We talk about everything from beats to Bach, don't miss it!

Bourgeois Mystics is a for-profit, personal growth cult and “genre-defying dance party waiting to explode,” headquartered in Austin, TX. Founded in late 2014 by four acquisitive ascetics, they quickly bloomed into a multinational sonic powerhouse, focusing their expressive musical talents on a completely original sound reminiscent of the abstract wit of MF DOOM, zany dorkiness of The B-52's, epic arrangements of Ennio Morricone, and funky grooves of Jamiroquai, all culminating in a distinct sound that’s been described as “Zappa meets OutKast”.

This is was a super fun episode where I interviewed Squiggly Finesse (pronounced Squilly FIN-ess) live from the Bourgeois commune. A lot of killer tracks on this episode as well. I can't wait to interview Tonto Luigi, Mathilda Bilderberg, Oochie Gallucio, Countess von Boopenstein, and the ghost of Dwayne Barry as well!
