  • Interracial Relationships-What's the Real Issue?
    Hi Bedroom Playmates,
On this episode we are discussing Interracial Relationships. Is there an issue in the Black community when it comes to white or other ethnic women dating black men but less of an issue when a black woman dates a white man or any other ethnicity? Why do we see such uprest when a Black male celebrity or athlete date a woman of another ethnicity? Is it really about the woman he has chosen to date or is it something more ingrain within the Black culture?
Are interracial relationships any different from relationships of the same ethnic group.
Does love actually have a color? What is your preference? Why or why wouldn't you date someone of an opposite ethnic group?
What about interracial relationships in the LGBT community? Do they face the same issues as heterosexual couples?
We want to talk about this. This will be a healthy discussion. We are having guest host Tessie Wilmot on the show to engage us in this topic.
Join us and share your thoughts.

He is now the manager for such wonderful performers as Robin S., Inaya Day, Crystal Waters, Evelyn "Champagne" King, and many more. Above all else, Troy is a beautiful human being, such a kind and generous spirit, it's no wonder the ladies flock around him...he also has a great sense of humor and amazing stories to tell, so be sure to join Nathan James and Meka Rae as we welcome special guest co-host Troy Bronstein to Brunch In The Basement With JaVonne

  • Bi-Sexual Men and the Down Low “Phenomenon”
Our last show focused on women and bi-sexuality. This week we want to focus on men who identify as bi-sexual and women who have experienced relationships where men were on "the down low."
Is there such a thing as a "bi-sexual" male? If a man sleeps with another man but still enjoy the company of a woman...gay? Why isn't it socially acceptable for a male to be bisexual? Even in the LGBT community? Is there such a thing as gay male privilege?
Women...have you experienced a relationship with a male whom you later found was on "the down low" or bisexual? If so, how did you handle it? Did you stay or leave? Did you blame yourself? Were there signs you missed along the way? How do you talk to a man about his sexual preferences without it being an offensive conversation? Should we actually discuss a man's sexual preference during the first date...or is that something we should even discuss at all?
I want us to discuss this. Join us and share your thoughts!

  • Intimate Realness w. Meka Rae and Renair: Labels in the LGBT Community Pt. 2
Last month we discussed labels in the LGBT community. The conversation was so full that we knew had to continue the conversation with a part 2. Recently, Raven Simone was featured on Oprah's Where are they Now.
This is her take on labels"
"I don't want to be labeled 'gay,'" Raven says. "I want to be labeled 'a human who loves humans.'"
In fact, Raven tells Oprah that she rejects the notion of labels completely in all areas of her life. "I'm tired of being labeled," she says. "I'm an American. I'm not an African-American; I'm an American."
The link to portions of the episode and the write up is included below.
How do you feel about that label gay, lesbian, stud, femme, pillow princess, etc? Do those labels define who you are as a human being? Are they acceptable in society? Do they affect your sex life or your relatioships? Lets talk about it!
