  • The Sports Machine w / Slim | The Bruins Lose and Nobody Cares!
The Boston Bruins returned from the all-star break by losing to the Calgary Flames 4-1 last night at the Garden. Don't worry. The real action starts up Thursday when the Bruins take on Vancouver. This Bruins team is going to do something special this year. Remember you heard it here first on The Sports Machine with Slim. "Random" is the word of the day today on the show. A third grader breaks Slim's rib? Random. Picking your nose causes Alzheimers? Random. Dre Greenlaw to win the game MVP award on Sunday in the matchup between KC and San Fran? That's random talk that could pay off to the tune of 200-1! We have a little bit of something for everyone today on the latest edition of The Sports Machine with Slim!

  • NH Unscripted with Kevin Collins
Kevin Collins, board member at the Garrison Players, was today's guest. And our topic? "What is the current state of non-professional theater and theater training?" We also had the good luck to be doing theater in the 1970's which was a highly experimental time, particularly in the arts. It was also still an analog world when we did just about everything -- lighting, set design, publicity, with little or no training, just because we had to. But times have changed, in the sense that there used to be a sort of apprenticeship process through which an actor learned his or her craft: college theater, summer stock, summer festivals, regional theater, off-off-Broadway, etc., etc. Not that anyone followed this step-by-step -- usually, an actor just tried out for everything. But the fact was there were many roads and many venues. In a very small way, community theater was a part of that. What are the changes? NH Unscripted and Kevin go deep in the weeds for what turned out to be "Part I”!

  • The Sports Machine w / Slim with State Senator Lou D'Allesandro
We talk lots of sports on The Sports Machine with Slim every weekday, and we occasionally mix in relevant gambling thoughts. Everyone loves to talk about their predictions - and people in the United States love to bet. It is estimated that over 67 million people (26% of the US population) will bet on the Big Game this coming Sunday. Not as many people like to talk about the potential pitfalls associated with gambling though, and we believe this is a topic that deserves discussion. NH State Senator Lou D'Allesandro joins the show today to give his insight into the world of gambling in New Hampshire!
