There’s a lot of “spiritual” language in the Bible, so much that it can be confusing. What does it mean to be filled with the Spirit? What does it mean to grieve the Spirit? How does my spirit relate to the Holy Spirit? This Sunday, we’ll look at the Holy Spirit from the perspective of the ancient Hebrews, and learn about the relationship between our spirit and God’s Spirit.

This week we explore one of Jesus’s most scandalous encounters with a tax collector named Matthew. Jesus makes the radical decision to call Matthew to follow him and leave behind a lucrative position that promises power and wealth for something far different and far more valuable. The gospels hold Peter up as the example of a disciple of Jesus. When the spotlight shifts to the disciples, 9 times out of 10 it’s on Peter. This week we look at 2 encounters that Peter had with Jesus to learn more about who Jesus is and what it means to be His disciples

She’s been accused of being a prostitute, and even being secretly married to Jesus; her name is mentioned more than any male follower of Jesus except Peter, James, and John. This week we explore the important role that women had in the early church through the encounter of Mary Magdalene with Jesus – the very first person to meet the risen Jesus!

What is an encounter with Jesus supposed to look like? Does it always happen on a mountain? Does it always happen in the valley? Is it always in response to our faith? This week we hear stories of doubt, repentance, trust, and we consider the incredible grace God shows to us in meeting us where we are.

Join us for a Good Friday service as we kick off our new teaching series called, Encounters with Jesus. We’re going to look at the life of Pilate and his fascinating interaction with Jesus right before the crucifixion. Jesus called out to Pilate to make a decision on who he was and what he taught, and his story ends with this, “Then Pilate turned Jesus over to them to be crucified.” (John 19:16). So who was Pilate and what are the lessons we learn from his relationship with Jesus?
