Welcome to episode 10, season 6 of the Woman Uncaged podcast. This week's episode is partially fueled by the Cornell 7 and even more by the powerful article Men Are Not Predators, Women Are Not Prey by Jessica Rose Greenwood on her Rebel in the Wild substack.
TW: Note that this episode does speak of sexual assault; please take care of yourself as you listen.
This idea that “Men are predators, women are prey” gets repeated so often it starts to feel like biology. We’re not buying it. In this week's episode we dig into how predator-prey language quietly naturalizes male violence, lowers expectations for men, and traps women in a life of constant vigilance.
We talk about what that framing does inside the body and inside relationships: the way it turns safety into a never-ending checklist, the way it invites victim blaming, and the way it steals time and energy that could go toward joy, leadership, and freedom. We also zoom out to the bigger picture of rape culture, institutional protection, and why consequences so often fail survivors, from college cases to courtrooms.
If this conversation hits you in the gut, you’re not alone. Subscribe for more, share this with a friend who cares about women’s safety and empowerment, and leave us a review. Then come tell us: what would change if women's safety didn’t require constant vigilance?

Your body changes, your hormones shift, your reflection surprises you, and suddenly the habits that “used to work” feel like they come with a cost. We’re talking honestly about what it means to live in a changing body, especially for midlife women navigating perimenopause, menopause, and the emotional and physical recalibration that can come with it.
We dig into the difference between building strength and punishing ourselves. And we unpack why modern comfort culture can make any discomfort feel “wrong,” even when a little challenge is exactly what helps us grow.
Then we zoom out to body image and aging. We name the ageism baked into the anti-aging industry, talk about how mirrors and Zoom can trigger self-objectifying, and explore what it looks like to choose vibrancy over trying to look 30. Along the way, we share the real midlife basics that become non-negotiable: sleep, hydration, nourishment, recovery, and the kind of self-valuing care that keeps our patience and bandwidth intact.
If you’ve been craving a more compassionate, empowering approach to aging, menopause, and feeling at home in your body, press play. Subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review so more women can find these conversations.

Welcome to episode 8, season 6 of the Woman Uncaged podcast where we are exploring triggers through a new lens: what if a trigger is a signal showing where you’re not free inside yourself yet? When we start treating triggers as teachers instead of life sentences, everything changes, from how we handle conflict to how we recover from shame, anger, and nervous system overwhelm.
We also share real stories that make this concrete: a coworker whose lack of work ethic still stirs resentment years later, and the intensity that can erupt when walking a reactive dog in a neighborhood full of other dogs. From there, we get practical. We talk about the first step of trigger work: noticing you’re triggered and naming it as such. Then we explore a playful method for integrating the aspects of yourself that may be hiding in the shadows (and contributing to said triggers).
We close by zooming out into the deeper why: freedom as agency, power to choose, and the ability to live by your own values. We also explore wildness and wholeness, that primal, intact part of you that can respond with discernment instead of reflex. If you’ve been craving more emotional regulation, self-trust, and a life beyond old patterns, this conversation will meet you there. Subscribe, share with a friend who’s doing their own inner work, and leave a review so more women can find the show.

Welcome to Woman Uncaged, episode 7 of Season 6!
Sensitivity can feel like a superpower and a liability in the same hour. If you’ve ever been told you’re “too sensitive,” felt exhausted by loud environments, or carried other people’s emotions like they were your job, this conversation is for you. We dig into what “highly sensitive person” actually means, why the nervous system processes emotional and social stimuli so deeply, and how that depth can create real wisdom instead of constant overwhelm.
We get honest about the trap many sensitive women fall into: equating sensitivity with anxiety. When that happens, the usual coping moves are numbing out or avoiding hard things altogether, and both can quietly shrink your life. We talk through a different option: uncoupling sensitivity from anxiety so feelings can move through your body without running your choices. Along the way, we share how sensitivity shows up day to day, from being deeply impacted by distressing images to noticing the subtle “something is off” signals in relationships and work.
If you’re ready to feel more alive without feeling more exposed, hit play. Subscribe for more conversations like this, share the episode with a sensitive friend, and leave a review so more women can find us. What part of sensitivity are you learning to honor right now?

Welcome to season 6, episode 6 of the Woman Uncaged podcast! In this week's episode, we dig into why your calendar can look “fine” and still feel like it belongs to someone else. We’re naming the pattern that many women inadvertently live inside: a part-time job that somehow takes over, a home that constantly calls for attention, and a life where what we truly value (creativity, friendship, nature, rest, meaningful work, etc.), keeps getting pushed to the edges.
We dig into why this happens and how it’s not a personal flaw. Patriarchal conditioning teaches women to center obligation and to treat what lights us up as optional. But it doesn't have to be that way!
If this conversation sparks something in you, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a review. What would you center if you gave yourself permission?

Risk is usually framed as a binary: stay safe and unseen, or step into visibility and take the hits. We don’t buy that.
As a follow up to our previous episode about embracing risk, we sit down with our friend and devoted listener Lana Price, writer and creator of Pragmagical, to offer a smarter and kinder model for embracing risk, especially for midlife women navigating change, anxiety, and the desire to be fully expressed.

In this latest episode, Laura and Linda dig into what it looks like when women outsource their wisdom, from the old “father knows best” conditioning to the new habit of letting AI chatbots tell us what to think, feel, and do.
We get honest about why this is happening now. People are lonelier, therapy can be expensive and hard to access, and AI is designed to be agreeable and engaging. But that ease comes with a cost. We talk about why real healing happens in human relationships, why growth needs nuance and sometimes conflict, and how “attachment hacking” can pull us away from vulnerability and self trust.
At the same time, we’re not anti-tech (these show notes are written with the help of AI after all!). We share a practical middle path: using AI for brainstorming, research, and logistics while refusing to hand it your emotional life or your major decisions.
Wherever you stand on AI in your life, we'd love to hear from you! And if you enjoy these conversations, subscribe to Woman Uncaged, share this with a friend who’s pondering the role of AI in her life, and leave a review so more listeners can find us.

Welcome to Episode 3 of Season 6!
Surrender sounds like a four-letter word when you’ve spent a lifetime being told to be “good,” accommodating, and smaller than you are. We sit down as best friends and coaches-in-real-life to unpack why surrender gives so many women the ick, and how to reclaim it as something powerful instead of something that costs you your voice, your boundaries, or your agency.
We explore the real dance between agency and surrender: staying rooted in choice while releasing the grip of control. Along the way we get concrete about what agency actually looks like in daily life, why control often shows up as image management and fear of failure, and how boundaries are about what we will accept, not about forcing someone else to behave. If you’ve ever struggled with people-pleasing, over-functioning, or the exhausting need to “make it work,” this conversation offers language you can use immediately.
Subscribe to Woman Uncaged, share this with a friend who’s wrestling with control or exhaustion, and leave a review so more listeners can find us. Then come tell us: where are you practicing agency, and where are you being invited to surrender?

Wecome to episode 2, season 6 of the Woman Uncaged Podcast! Agency is not a personality trait you either have or don’t. It’s a practice, and it starts the moment you notice that you’re “shoulding” all over yourself. Laura inspires this discussion with a quote she can’t stop thinking about from Cate Hall’s You Can Just Do Things.
In this episode, we talk about the everyday ways women lose power without realizing it: aging stories that shrink possibility, family customs that reward “being normal,” and career scripts that insist forward is the only safe direction. We also question the modern obsession with “finding your purpose,” especially how it can keep women stuck, searching externally, and afraid to make any move that isn’t perfect.
If this conversation sparks something, we'd love to have you subscribe to Woman Uncaged, share it with a friend who’s trapped in a “should,” and/or leave a review so more women can find the hidden doors in their lives.

We're back for Season Six, and we're taking aim at the hero’s journey, and the way it teaches men to chase a “mission” while women keep the whole world running at home. We make the case for richer stories built on connection, community, and the inner life, not conquest and applause.
A man gets a call about a big opportunity right after his second child is born and proudly tells the story like it proves he’s committed to his mission. All we can hear is the part he skips: the postpartum partner left at home with a newborn and a toddler, the invisible labor, the unasked consent, and the cultural permission slip that lets men chase “the quest” while women hold the entire foundation of daily life.
We dig into why the classic hero’s journey still shapes coaching, career advice, and pop culture, and why it can be both sexist and spiritually flattening. We talk about the mental load women carry, the way mothers get criticized for work travel while fathers get excused, and the unspoken damage this does to intimacy and family systems. Along the way, we pull in memoir as a counter-story, including reflections inspired by Maggie Smith’s You Could Make This Place Beautiful, where the inner life and the hard rebuild after loss are real heroism.
If this conversation hits a nerve, share it with a friend and tell us what story you’re trying to live. Subscribe, leave a review, and let us know: what kind of stories are you hungry for?
