  • Episode 181: An American in Canada: TikToker & Entrepreneur Amy Creyer

Amy Creyer Percifield is an American-Canadian creator, advertising specialist who works in the creator economy. She recently went viral on TikTok for her content about Canada and the U.S.. In this episode, we dive into the realities of moving from the U.S. to Canada—exploring cultural differences, stereotypes, women's experiences, maternity leave, and the evolving relationship between the two countries. At a time when Canada-U.S. relations are strained, this is a poignant conversation about what we can learn from each other and how to find common ground with our neighbours.

Amy Creyer is an American living in Toronto, Canada, with her husband Ben Percifield and two cats, Rufus and Tesla. She works as an award-winning creative director and TikTok content creator who talks about her daily life & lived experiences in Canada and the United States.

Amy’s professional work has earned popular & industry press coverage and numerous awards. In 2010, Amy launched a renowned street-style blog that authentically captured fashion from the streets of Chicago and New York City. Over time, the brand & content partnerships she earned as a creator kickstarted Amy’s career in the world of global advertising agencies, where she now crafts big ideas and helps CPG brands grow through unexpected, culturally-relevant ad campaigns that drive real results.

In her spare time, Amy continues to create content and develop digital experiences to make the world a better place. During the pandemic, she launched BeMyFriend.Ca, a social experiment that inspired over 1,000 people to join a virtual friendship community during Canada’s restrictive Covid-19 lockdowns. Her PR stunt earned millions of impressions through national press coverage on CBC, Breakfast TV, and more, sparking a dialogue about human connection at a time when it was needed most.

Amy grew up in Northwest Arkansas, where her parents owned a working cattle ranch, before migrating north to attend university at Michigan State. In 2008 she moved to Chicago and at the end of 2019 her company transferred her from the United States to Toronto, Canada.
