Kristie Schoots is a landscape gardener and retired musician from Queensland Australia. 

She learnt a lot from her father who, when she was growing up owned a large landscaping yard where she learnt to drive a Bobcat.  

She worked in the corporate world for a while where she experienced mental health decline, so she decided to create opportunities for herself in the trades and started her own business with no advertising budget or tools.  

Things became very challenging for Kristie after leaving a mentally and emotionally abusive relationship with a woman and she now suffers from PTSD and anxiety which she has learnt to cope with through eating healthily, meditation and her Tibetan singing bowl and focusing on self-worth.

She says: “If there are no opportunities, I am the type of person to create one.”  

“When you are at rock bottom and have nothing to lose you either make life roll all over you or you make a change.”

Jazlyne is a visual artist from New Jersey USA.  

Her journey into art came after she witnessed her father who was addicted to heroin being chased at gun point by police officers.  This was hard for Jazlyne as she was very emotionally tied to her father, but this did not stop her from making a life for herself.   

In this podcast she opens up about how these events shaped her life and how art helped her to cope with the emotional traumas.

Includes a BONUS AFFIRMATION RELAXATION audio at the end!  Becca Higgin is a carpenter from Chorley in Lancashire who is currently working in Melbourne Australia.  Her journey into carpentry is a very interesting one which started from a visit to Nepal as a volunteer helping to build schools and education centres for disadvantaged communities all over the world.  Before this happened, she wanted to be a helicopter pilot!   She loves being on the tools and talks about the importance of looking after our mental wellbeing.    It goes to show that if you are in the right place at the right time, things can really work out for you.  If you have a passion and want to become a carpenter, go for it!
