Mother’s Day is an opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate all the moms that play such a special and important role in our lives. And as much as moms love being moms, we also need time to fill our own wells so we can give freely to our families. In this special Women on Work Unfiltered, Liz and Alysia pay homage to all the moms out there (and teachers!) and discuss the importance of giving moms space to find themselves outside of their relationship to their families. 

The reality is navigating and excelling in the workplace continues to be challenging for people of color. And even more so for women of color, who must overcome deeply engrained gender and racial bias. In this episode of Women on Work, Liz and Alysia talk to Rha Goddess and Deepa Purushothaman – self-described corporate refuges who founded a powerful community of Women of Color leaders to help remake corporate culture. Rha and Deepa discuss how white women can move beyond allyship and be co-conspirators in remaking the table so everyone has a chair.

At one point or another, we’ve all gone through the hiring process – the interviews, the suspense, the waiting. Many of us have less than ideal experiences, ranging from weeks of no replies or feedback to misalignment between the definition of the role itself. In this week’s episode Liz details her journey through the hiring process, where it’s broken, and the opportunities to make it a little more human. 

Like the song from Encanto, we all know what pressure feels like. The slow crush of all the responsibilities we have, keeping up appearances, always having the answers to every question or problem. The paralyzing feeling of being so overwhelmed you don’t even know where to start. In this Unfiltered episode Liz and Alysia talk about being under pressure, where it comes from (hint: sometimes it’s from yourself), and how to find some relief.

It may be difficult to immediately connect the dots between gender equality and climate change. While we all know gender equality drives change and improves circumstances around poverty, famine, and sexual violence, improving overall representation and having women in leadership has been proven to drive positive impact for the climate. 

In today’s episode, Liz is joined by environmental leaders Jarvis Smith from My Green Pod and co-founders of She Changes Climate Bianca Pitt and Antoinette Vermilye to dig deeper into the topic.
