As women, we often diminish our accomplishments and ourselves to adhere to culture’s expectations that we be humble, supportive, and focused on others. Often, we aren’t taught or encouraged to believe in, support, and even love ourselves and feel uncomfortable doing so. In this episode, Liz and Alysia are joined by Charman Driver – Certified Pilates teacher and women-only bootcamp instructor, Integrative health coach, community builder and arts advocate, a writer, and business owner. Listen in on this inspiring conversation as they dig into defining success, evolving ourselves, empowering women, and loving yourself. One of the biggest challenges for women in the workplace is navigating the complexities of emotions. With a lengthy history of bias and expectations that women need to act like men to get ahead, women often get penalized for displaying emotions. “Passionate” in men translates to “aggressive” in women. (or worse!) In this episode, Liz and Alysia tackle the landmines that surround women when it comes to emotions and the toll women must pay to be considered likeable. And discuss how everyone can benefit from more understanding and empathy.
