October 26, 2018the SIRI & BEK show: S1E17 - Planning Your SeasonOn this episode, as the season comes to a close, Siri & Bek look ahead to planning the next season. They share their experiences as coaches for both professionals and age-groupers on what to consider when selecting races always with the destination race in mind. They explain why it's good to choose races in good locations that offer more than just the race that your support team would enjoy. Importantly select races that will take you outside your comfort zone, challenge you and build your strength. Keep in mind your budget and travel costs to international races too - it may be best to minimize travel for age groupers to keep costs down while achieving your goals. And in terms of the number of races, they stress how critical it is to know know yourself and your recovery; what a race takes out of you, how long it takes to recover and what it takes out of you physically, mentally and in your spirit. Siri points out that eventually mileage will take the edge off athletes over the years with wear and tear on the body even among the best pros. ‘Training is important and race day should just be a celebration of all the hard work you’ve done.’ - Siri. For show notes and related links for this episode click HERE.For more conversations from the world of women’s sport including articles, blogs, videos and podcasts visit wispsports.com.
