Polly Swann is an Edinburgh born, Olympic British Rower, and Junior Doctor!
She became an Olympic silver medallist as part of the women’s eight, at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, and was crowned the World and European Champion, during her GB Rowing Team career.
At the beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic in 2020, Polly took time off from her training, to work for 3 months as an interim foundation year doctor at her local hospital in Scotland. Polly is no stranger to managing her time (exceptionally well) around both of her incredible pursuits. In 2019, after taking a short career break to complete her medical degree, Polly returned to the GB squad and won a bronze medal in the women’s pair alongside Holly Hill.
In episode 4 of Women Who Self Care, Polly talks to Boo about women in sports (offering tips to those who want to start exercising, or even to go pro!), as well discussing the role of women within society. Polly explains how she initially started rowing and highlights how she organised her time between being an Olympian and a Medical Student (she also studied some modules in Global Health Policy at the University of London!).
