These stats don't even begin to scratch the surface of the challenges women face in the U.S. and is the topic of the new book "The War on Moms" by Sharon Lerner, this weeks guest on WomenCount Radio. Lerner who writes about women and politics for the Nation, joins us to talk about about her book and the challenges women face. WomenCount returns from its short hiatus to welsome New Mexico State Rep. Karen Giannini. An Emerge grad who against the odds won her seat in NM and then went on the shine a light on the challenges women face, especially single moms like herself, when running for office. KNown as "The Dragonslayer" we are happy to welcome Karen Giannini to the show.

WomenCount welcomes candidate Jana Kemp to the show to talk about her run for Governor in the state of Idaho. One a Republican, Jana now runs as an Independent.

WomenCount Radio welcomes BlogHer's Political Director Erin Kotecki Vest and Co-Founder Elisa Camahort Page to the show. Erin & Elisa are going to give us all the amazing details of BlogHer's new partnership with the Whitehouse Project which will take place at BlogHer '10, where they will be holding a half-day workshop on August 5th. Debra Bowen became only the sixth woman in California history elected to a statewide constitutional office when she was elected as Secretary of State in November 2006. She is a champion of open government and has completely overhauled California's election system for the better. Secretary Bowen was recognized for her national leadership in election integrity with the 2008 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award. WomenCount is proud to welcome Secretary Bowen to the show.
