Chapter 1: Welcome to Wonderland – Exploring Parts of Ourselves
Episode 13: Cheshire Cat: Fading Away
The Cheshire Cat grins, teases, and vanishes—always present yet never entirely visible. In this episode, we delve into the sensation of fading away, balancing between presence and absence, and the challenge of feeling overlooked even when standing right before others.
What causes us to fade into the background? How do dissociation, emotional detachment, and a fragmented sense of self influence our reality?
Through profound storytelling and personal introspection, we will unravel the experience of fluctuating in and out of connection with ourselves and the world around us.
Are you genuinely here, or merely a fleeting smile in the shadows?
We will explore the various ways individuals fade away—not only physically but also emotionally and mentally.
This may stem from the exhaustion of constantly wearing a mask, the fear of occupying space, or the instinct to withdraw when situations become overwhelming. It could even be dissociation, which pulls you away, leaving you feeling like a bystander in your own life.
I will share my personal experiences of disappearing—moments when I felt I was merely going through the motions, transitioning between identities, or detaching as a form of self-protection.
Together, we will investigate the reasons behind this phenomenon, its connection to trauma and emotional regulation, and what it means to reclaim our presence in a world that often renders us invisible.
By the end of this episode, we will confront an essential question: How can we stop fading and begin to fully exist as our authentic selves?
