  • Christianity—The Opposite of Other Religions
    Christianity—The Opposite of Other Religions
Christianity is the opposite of other religions, because God:
    Lesson 1: Provided the __________________ (Gen 22:7-11; John 1:29; 1 Cor 5:7; Rev 5:6).
    Lesson 2: _______ the ________ (Rom 3:28; Eph 2:8-9; 2 Tim 1:9; Titus 3:5; John 19:30).
    Lesson 3: ________ ________ to us (Gen 11:3-7, 18:21; Exo 3:8, 19:11, 18-20).
    Lesson 4: “______________” Himself (Phil 2:6-8; 2 Cor 8:9; Psa 22:6; Isa 53:1; John 1:11, 17:5).

    Memory Verses: 1 Corinthians 2:1-2
Day 1: Read Genesis 22:7-12 & discuss: If God didn’t want a sacrifice, what did He want? What did this account foreshadow about Jesus? Why is this account a good example of how Christianity is different than other religions
Day 2: Read Rom. 3:28, Eph. 2:8, 2 Tim. 1:9, Titus 3:5 & discuss: Why are these verses good examples of how Christianity is different than other religions? How were each of the persons in the Trinity involved in our salvation (see Eph. 1:3-14, 1 Pet. 1:2 for some hints)
Day 3: Read Gen 11:3-7, 18:21, Ex 3:8, Jer 23:5, Isa 9:6-7, Zech 9:9 & discuss: Did God really “come down”? What’s the significance of these Old Testament passages - what were they pointing forward to in the New Testament? What does it mean that Jesus “emptied himself”? Why did he do this? (See Phil. 2:1-11)

  • “Limited Atonement or Unlimited Atonement?: What did Peter preach at Pentecost?” – PART 1 (brief mini-series after Acts 2:36)
This Sunday (12/24) we started a brief mini-series: Limited Atonement or Unlimited Atonement?
As you may remember, someone asked about this and – reflecting afterwards – I was not as brief or clear as possible. Therefore, we are taking a few weeks to go a little bit deeper.
Click HERE for the handout with last week’s blanks filled-in. This will also be made available in class, so you don’t have to print it out ahead of time. Mainly, I wanted to provide it now so that if you wished to follow along with the audio before next Sunday you could do so.
Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.
    Thanks!
    - Pastor Doug

Day 1: Read Luke 9:23-27 & discuss: Having carefully examined your life (see FWG 11/19), what specific things are you choosing to spend it on? From which of these activities is there spiritual fruit? Which spiritual fruit (see Gal. 5)? What is your soul? How would you define or describe that to a child?
Day 2: Read Luke 9:23-27 & discuss: Which activities are profitable? Which ones are not profitable? Should you look for an opportunity to cease the unprofitable? Why or why not?
