One of the major themes that run through the entire Bible is God's protection for His children. The Bible is full of accounts about God's protection for the children of Israel in the Old Testament, and this protection is still available today for God's people, because God is the same as He had always been. One of the most remarkable miracles that God did for the children of Israel while journeying through the wilderness was the daily provision of manna, a special type of bread, for them to eat, for forty years, until they entered into the promised land. It is very important to realise that, in life, the spiritual location of a man is more important than his physical location. This is because the spiritual always determines the physical. Today's Morning Devotion makes us realise that God was not only referring to Adam's physical location, but also his spiritual location, when He asked him, "Where are you?" This is because Adam's fall had resulted in a shift in location from God's side to that of the devil. The Bible leaves no one in doubt about God's love for man, and about His hatred for sin that made man lose fellowship with Him. Jesus came into the world for the primary reason of delivering men from the power of sin and restoring the fellowship between him and God. In the days of Christ on earth, the religious leaders of the time were known to be hypocritical and very deceitful. Jesus was unhappy with these leaders who appeared pious in the public, but were wicked and lawless beyond the public view. Man's tendency to hypocrisy and deceit is the focus of today's Morning Devotion. It condemns man's hypocrisy and admonishes all to be sanctified rather than being sanctimonious, pretending to be what they are not. The Bible strongly condemns pride and admonishes all to avoid it. This is because pride is destructive as seen in the fall of the devil who wanted to be like God as a result of pride. In today's Morning Devotion, king Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, is cut to size by God because of his pride in failing to give glory to God who had blessed him and made his kingdom glorious. The knowledge of God is to be desired above every other thing in life. This is because the knowledge of God brings peace and life, and gives the one who possesses it, fulfillment. Today's Morning Devotion draws attention to the need for every believer to desire a deep knowledge and understanding of God so as to gain access not only to God's blessings, but also to the power of doing exploits for Him. It concludes that the knowledge of Jesus, is ultimately the knowledge of God. August 1, 2023.

The primary reason for Jesus' coming into the world was to reconcile mankind to God, and redeem him from the ravages of sin and from eternal destruction. This is the focus of today's Morning Devotion which makes it clear that when Jesus said, "It is finished," on the cross before His death, He was declaring an end to the enmity between God and man, and an end to the dominion of the devil and sin over man.
