Sometimes in our spiritual journey, God seems silent and far away. Our lives can seem barren. During those times, when we want to give up hope we must not lose our hope – we must focus on the promises of God even when there is silence. For God is a giver of life, and where there is the promise of life, there is hope.

To endure in one’s faith to the end takes courage. Where do you find your strength and courage?

Is getting to heaven your goal?

Many people endure the hardships and trials of life to get to heaven. But did you know that the goal of faith is not heaven? We endure for Jesus. He is the object of our faith. He is the reason for our faith. To be in his presence eternally is heaven.

Some people get so into Bible prophecies, especially regarding the End Times, they miss the point.

It is about enduring in our faith to the end.

However, it can be hard to endure. This is why we need to be encouraged by God and His word, and by one another.

God gave us prophecies not so that we could try to determine the exact when, how and what. He gave us prophecies to prepare, encourage, and motivate us to live faithfully in the face of present and future trials. So that we could endure to the end.

Can you truly have assurance of salvation? Yes. How? By God’s grace alone.

How good do you have to be to be saved? What must you do? These questions haunt many people today because of guilt and shame. Therefore, they either reject God or place a great burden on themselves to earn their way to heaven. Luther, too, struggled with this question. What he discovered in Scripture lifted his soul so much that he felt as if he were born again.

Today, we continue on in our series about the Solas of the Reformation. Sola is Latin for “alone.” The Solas are: Scripture Alone, Faith Alone, Grace Alone, Christ Alone, to God be the Glory Alone.
