Psalm 40 describes how to come out victorious in times of trials or darkness. In this psalm, David tells how God rescued him from the first "pit" or "trial", and he praised God through it. It is also evident that David had fallen into another "pit" or "trial", crying out to the Lord to deliver him from this one. David knew how to wait patiently on the Lord to get him out of his second trial.
