July 09, 2020Village IdiotYesterday my day began well but ended badly. First a friend who runs a ministry that I’ve donated a ton of money to went back on his word on a verbal agreement concerning some property and it cost me $125,000, thus proving that no good deed goes unpunished. This began a series of events throughout the day that were just as disturbing . . . https://www.wordsfortheday.com/index.php/2020/07/village-idiot-2/...more0minPlay
July 08, 2020Stinking ThinkingI love the mornings. I’m an early riser and really enjoy watching the sun come up in the mornings. There is a song based upon Psalm 118:24 that I enjoy and in part its lyrics are actually the verse, “This is the day that the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it.” I catch myself spontaneously singing it on many mornings, especially on those with spectacular sunrises that nearly take my breath away . . . https://www.wordsfortheday.com/index.php/2020/07/stinking-thinking/...more0minPlay
July 07, 2020Adversity - Love it!I have been thinking lately about how disgusted I am with the behavior of many of those in this nation. It is almost nauseating to watch or read any form of media. Their world of paid clicks and television ratings drives them to focus on whatever disgusting thing is trending or bias they might have. So we read and view the degeneracy, degradation, and prejudice of societies all over the world. As of late here in the USA we are served up 24/7 examples of the hate and anger of various races . . . https://www.wordsfortheday.com/index.php/2020/07/adversity-love-it/...more0minPlay
July 06, 2020Mired in quicksandHow are we supposed to love despicable people who reject and ridicule everything that we hold dear and stand for? The Bible tells us to love our enemies and turn the other cheek when persecuted . . . https://www.wordsfortheday.com/index.php/2020/07/mired-in-quicksand/...more0minPlay
July 03, 2020Faster than a speeding bulletMark Twain once stated, “A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.” I suppose the 1800’s weren’t much different than today where lies travel faster than a speeding bullet . . . https://www.wordsfortheday.com/index.php/2020/07/faster-than-a-speeding-bullet/...more0minPlay
July 02, 2020Look who has it now!I have an arrowhead that I found in a field near Honey Lake that is really beautiful. It has a dark purple streak that runs the length of it and is light mauve on one side and light maroon on the other. I’ve imagined that a chief might have owned it and I would guess that it was one of his prized possessions . . . https://www.wordsfortheday.com/index.php/2020/07/look-who-has-it-now/...more0minPlay
July 01, 2020Violence begets violenceI have a scar on my head that serves as a reminder about why one should never attempt to resist arrest. When I was about 20 years old and as far from knowing the Lord as the East to the West, I got into a bar fight in New Orleans and a policeman tried to break it up. He grabbed me from behind and I turned and hit him. He promptly responded by knocking me out with one swift blow with a slap jack, (Spring loaded leather covered piece of metal used similar to a Billy-club.) . . . https://www.wordsfortheday.com/index.php/2020/07/violence-begets-violence/...more0minPlay
June 30, 2020Supreme mistakeSadly the liberal wing of the Supreme Court and its so-called conservative John Roberts voted in favor of unrestricted abortion in a case in Texas which simply required that the doctor performing the grisly act to have admitting privilege at a hospital close to the clinic where it was performed. It would seem to be common sense to do so in order to protect the women who are undergoing these operations. But of course they want zero restrictions on this murderous act which takes the lives of over one million babies per year . . . https://www.wordsfortheday.com/index.php/2020/06/supreme-mistake/...more0minPlay
June 29, 2020Insatiable appetiteMy wife and I went offshore for some fishing yesterday. It was unbearably hot without a hint of breeze. I was slowly trolling some lures to make it cooler, but the bite was non-existent. After a couple hours of that I decided to switch to live bait and slowly drift and literally as soon as I got two lines out, both rods bent double. Teresa took one and I took the other . . . https://www.wordsfortheday.com/index.php/2020/06/insatiable-appetite/...more0minPlay
June 26, 2020Look to the skyThe Lord tells us that The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard . . . https://www.wordsfortheday.com/index.php/2020/06/look-to-the-sky/...more0minPlay
