I would interpret that verse describing several Gods. The plural literally means there are multiple Gods. One of my friends owned the farm and recounted a hilarious story about a guy that went hunting with them who was very arrogant. A very close friend of mine, Spike Crawford, dropped dead with a “widow maker” heart attack this week. He had as good of a Christian witness as I’ve ever seen. Today he is with Jesus walking the streets of gold I would imagine. From what I know of this man he was as good as they come. He lived his life to a point where people respected him and wanted to be like him. This is perhaps the greatest witness of all, don’t talk the talk but walk the walk. I remember one of my sons coming down from Atlanta while Honey Lake Plantation was still under construction, and we rode around checking on our various projects together. I was most interested to see the look on his face when we walked inside Honey Lake Chapel. We had just installed the last of our stained-glass windows, (the oldest in the state of Florida), and they were gorgeous. Someone told me the other day that I needed to retire before “I work myself to death”. I replied that I’d never actually heard of anyone “working themselves to death”. He of course went on to tell me of various people he has known who dropped dead while hard at work!. I asked if the doctors had listed those people’s causes of death as “overwork”. I was fishing offshore with some friends not too long ago and a little canary about two inches high lit on the back of the boat. You might not think that odd, but we were nearly forty miles out. A friend told me they come from the Bahamas and migrate to the Keys for whatever purpose and then go back.
