I am appalled at the headlines that report on mean-spirited people who publicly demean their fellow citizens. So today I read in a Christianity Report’s post of an actor, Brian Cox, who railed against the Bible and made the statement that people who believe it are stupid, especially the book of Genesis. I was in the eye, ear, and nose doctor’s office the other day and there was a chart on the wall showing the ear inside and out. I marveled at the sheer depth of detail that God put into designing the human ear. In a word it is astounding. My twin granddaughters just turned 18. What a shock that was I tell you. I’ve caught largemouth bass bigger than they were when they were born, now they are almost as tall as me. Time is flying by at a breathless pace. Many of my close friends have gone on to be with the Lord including T.K. Wetherell, Murf the Surf, and far too many others. Music groups like “The Band” have been ravaged by the passage of time with all but one having died. I have watched with interest the ongoing protests at colleges and universities with dismay. It is not so much the protests, after all I was a product of the ’60’s, it is more what they are protesting. None of these students were around when the holocaust occurred. I was born just as WWII ended. I’m sickened by the national news. I’m talking about physically distressed. It is beyond the pale that anyone watches it and believes anything published. And yet they continue writing crummy story after crummy story. Have you ever had a strong feeling to avoid doing something that could harm you. You might be considering making friends with someone that does not meet your moral standards but otherwise is cool to hang out with; however, intuition tells you that it would be wrong. The word intuition can be defined as, ” the ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning”. Where does it come from? I believe that intuition comes from the Holy Spirit. If somehow we instantly know that something is wrong about a situation without thinking it through, how else can it be explained? I think that being humble is difficult for some people. All one must do is look at Jesus Christ to picture humbleness. The Creator of the world came down and was born in a manger. His three years of ministry paint a picture of how we should act. He walked everywhere He went, kings and queens and royalty rode in chariots or on horses and He could have done so, but He chose to humble Himself. He didn’t wear a crown or dress flashy or live in a big mansion. He ate with sinners despite Pharisees looking down on them.
