I receive many letters each day and often they will bring me to tears. At a very young age, I reached a point where I didn’t cry anymore. I had the tears beaten out of me by an abusive father and vowed never to allow anyone to see me cry again. I became a supposed “tough guy”, and tough guys don’t cry; that is for sissies. I made it back to the farm yesterday and just chilled out for the day. Our house is a mess, and I will need to spend a big portion of it cleaning up and unpacking. I’m happy there are a few football games on but sad to see the season coming to a close. I’m heading home today after having a great time in Atlanta with two of my sons and their families. We really enjoyed our visit and hate to leave, but they are probably glad to get back to normal. I urgently needed some work done on my home in the keys due to it being under contract again and it being scheduled for an inspection today. I did not much think I would find anyone, but when I called my handyman on the day after Christmas and explained the situation, he readily agreed to get the work done for me by the deadline. But I was deeply disappointed in recent days to learn that he is going to step down whenever he finds someone in his words, “foolish enough to serve as CEO”. I have several friends facing serious medical crises during this beautiful time of the year that we celebrate the most holy of holidays, Christmas. I pray for them each day, petitioning God to heal them and make them whole so they, their family, and friends can enjoy more time together. I know Jesus hears my prayers and will answer one way or another. We of course only want the answer of “Yes, I will heal them”. But we know that God doesn’t always answer yes.
