I was talking to a couple of friends of mine the other day and they both appeared to be in a foul mood and were complaining about the country, our economy, illegal immigration, politics, race relations, personal finance, family, and most of all about their careers. Several years back I went to Pittsburg for a television interview on Cornerstone TV. The host and I talked before we taped his show, and the subject came up of both of us having several experiences of facing death up close and personal and surviving. He told me of an experience that he had in the Sudan where he was in an orphanage with 300 kids and armed rebels surrounded the camp. I recently contracted to have a shop built where it connects with my metal building. The workers were prompt and hard-working and everything was progressing nicely. I know some Spanish and wanted to tell them in their native tongue that I appreciated the good job they were doing. I have long felt we can learn from nature. One thing we need to learn is that there are creatures out there that can maim and kill us. About a year ago I had a wonderful lady who is a long-time reader of Words for the Day and lives on the west coast write and tell me that she and her husband were going to visit the east coast and wanted to know if she could come by our home in the Keys and meet me. I was watching television last night and saw a piece about a man who discovered an uninhabited island. He was excited about it and wanted to colonize it and create his own utopia there. He was disgusted with all the violence, hatred, and incivility going on in the world and wanted to create a small colony of people who shared everything with no weapons or violence or strife; a mini heaven if you will. I had a reader of Words for the Day that wrote yesterday and is totally disgusted with himself because he is addicted to porn. He hates it with a passion and his email states that he prays, and prays, and prays some more, but to no avail. He asked for my advice, and I responded that porn addiction is a very common problem with hundreds of millions and possibly billions of porn addicts, many of whom are trying to stop.
