Purpose. It’s something we all want, but how many of us have actually found it? And if we’ve been lucky enough to find it, have we found a way to make a career out of it? US VetLife founder and Army veteran Scott Tucker has not only found his passion and purpose but he is out there every day sharing it with the world. USVetLife is an amazing company that is innovating both the financial and employment spaces for military families.

Scott is all about financial wellness. There is a shocking statistic out there that the average military family gets out of the service with only $5,000 to their name. We are so used to benefits taking care of us and, honestly, our financial education isn’t working. Here is the goal: learn how to use our money. We should be positioning ourselves financially for the eventual transition out of the military. There has never been a time like this in the history of the world, where so much information and access is available to us. But here is the catch - you have to want to go out and find the information and opportunities. Then, once you find it, you have to ask. Ask for help, ask for explanations.

So how do we tackle this? Scott suggests a modern, proactive approach. “Do we want to leave it to the government?

How VetForce Can Help Military Spouses Launch A Career in Tech

Blog Post about this week's episode

Are you a Military Spouse that hasn’t finished your degree? Are you a Military Spouse who wants to gain job experience while working on a degree? Do you have a graduate degree, but still having a hard time finding a job? Would you like to break into the tech industry?

We had the opportunity to talk to Mike Wheeler of Mike Wheeler Media and Brook Bracy, Certified Salesforce Administrator and Bilingual Hiring Expert, on how Salesforce can help military spouses catapult their careers.

    First, what is Salesforce?

Salesforce is a customer relationship management (CMS) software that helps companies and customers combine into one integrated platform. The web platform helps a companies' departments such as marketing, sales, commerce, and services combine into one platform online (also known as the cloud).

“Why Salesforce matters in terms of a virtual career? There is an extreme shortage of Salesforce talent and Salesforce professionals? So, the supply versus demand equation is in your favor, “ said Mike Wheeler.

You saw the words “cloud” “computing” and “software” and want to run. Keep reading. You do not need to learn to code or understand development to work on the Salesforce platform. Salesforce has created an educational community for the military community called VetForce that teaches participants how to use the platform by earning badges and a unique gamification process.

“Learning about Salesforce has given me more job security. It’s made me more hopeful about my career progress. Vetforce gives the military community an opportunity to earn certifications that can cost hundreds to a thousand dollars,” said Brooke Bracy.

The military community can join the Vetforce platform for absolutely FREE and earn industry certifications for FREE while launching a career at the same time. Salesforce provides job security for those who do not have a college degree. The skills are in high demand and can provide a sustainable and an increase in salary in the long term.

Launching a Career in IT When You Do Not Have a Degree

Blog Post about this week's episode

Are you recently transitioning from a stay at home parent into a career? Are you tired of starting entry-level over again? Do you want a career in technology? Are you unsure of how to jump into tech without spending more money on schooling?

If you’ve answered yes to all these questions. We want to talk Vetforce with you. Vetforce is a free education based platform provided through Salesforce in upskilling the military community with high demand technology skills and providing partners with a diverse and trained talent pipeline.

To talk more about the platform, we had the honor to talk to veteran David Scott Nava about his journey with the platform and how Vetforce launched his career into technology within months. David used Vetforce while transitioning from active duty service into a civilian career role.

After getting his MBA and project management certifications, David was unsure of what industry to apply his skills. He utilized his LinkedIn and heard about VetForce. He signed up and started training immediately. Through the module and gamification of the Vetforce training, David was able to earn 413 badges through the process and explained, “It’s such an awesome way to learn Salesforce, and it was completely free.  I did a couple of badges and found out that I loved it. And very quickly found out that I do have a love for Information Systems. And began my journey down that path.”

(David Nava is in the middle, image from https://veterans.force.com/s/)

David was able to continue his learning and free education through Vetforce and earn free industry certifications (which can be valued in the thousands). David is a currently a Salesforce Lightning Champion and 6x Trailhead Ranger. If you don’t know what that means, he’s pretty much the big deal in Salesforce terms.

In our interview, David also provided some incredible insight into how military spouses can take advantage of Vetorce and how to gain real-life experience while training in VetForce “Salesforce created specific badges for military spouses because they understand the unique challenges military spouses face.

“If you do not have experience or a degree, Salesforce is making it easy to bridge the gap for our veterans and military spouses.
