GigaWatt- To make people aware about the challenge of energy transition from coal and gas to renewable energies such as wind and solar, we have created this exciting board game. It is important for people to undersand that this is important to stop or at least slow down climate change, in order to keep our planet habitable for future generations.
The president of IAESTE A.s.b.l., Thomas Faltner, just got re-elected for another two years at the Annaul Conference 2022 in the end of January. In this episode, Mark and Thomas will discuss the lessons leanred from the AC and the strategy of the association moving forward. Karel Smejkal is the president and co-founder of INSPIRELI. IAESTE partnered up with INSPIRELI to support their Beirut Port project. In August 2020 a devastating explosions destroyed or damaged nearly 50% of all buildings in Beirut. INSPIRELI hosts a competition for young architects where they can contribute to the reconstruction of Beirut. Together with Mark, Karel will discuss the history of INSPIRELI, the Beirut port competition and something Karel calls the Netflix of architecture. Andressa Leonilia is from Brazil and used to be an IAESTE volunteer for IAESTE Brazil and an IAESTE trainee in 2019. Originally, Andressa is from the shantytown of Sao Paulo. Work, passion, and dedication helped her to join university and to fulfill her dream to go abroad. Today, she lives in Sweden with her boyfriend. After more than 20 years, Bruce Wicks decided to leave IAESTE to pursue a career outside the association. The ITS team are five motivated volunteers under the supervision of the IT Manager of the IAESTE A.s.b.l. support team. Jerry, Martin, Prachi, Samuel and Aditaya keep our IT infrastructure running and develop our Exchange Platform to improve the usability and the exchange program itself. In general, we all just see how much we rely on our IT once it is not working. Therefore, we consider our ITS team as the hidden heroes of IAESTE A.s.b.l. and we want to bring them into the spotlight. Lisa studied Biotechnology at BOKU University in Vienna, Austria. In this episode, she talks with Mark about her internship in Kazakhstan, how she got there and what her grandparents had to do with her journey.
