Ratti Entertainment, in partnership with Wise Acre Comics, is excited to announce the Kickstarter pre-launch campaign for Black Salt: The Last Heroes Left, a martial arts comic series that fuses espionage, action, and Afro-Asian storytelling. The campaign will fund the completion of Issues #5 and #6 and compile all six issues into a deluxe hardcover graphic novel.

The Black Salt franchise has already made waves across multiple mediums. What began as a comic series grew into an HBO-licensed 30-minute short film and later a video game demo that earned top industry honors, including the Spotlight Award at GDC and Best Action Game – Indie Playground at DreamHack Dallas. Now, Black Salt comes full circle as a hardcover graphic novel. "Black Salt has always been about representation, action, and storytelling with global appeal," said creator and producer Owen Ratliff. "Our goal with this Kickstarter is to give fans the complete story in a premium hardcover edition."

The campaign has already earned Kickstarter’s prestigious “Project We Love” badge and is building strong momentum with 513+ followers and counting. The goal is to reach 600+ followers before launch to ensure the campaign explodes out of the gate. Fans can view the teaser trailer and click “Notify Me on Launch” on the Kickstarter pre-launch page to show support.

This simple action helps increase visibility and signals demand for diverse, independent comics.

What started 20 years ago as a blog of hand-drawn characters is now a cinematic graphic novel featuring an ensemble of 80 original characters, available on January 1st, 2026. THE STORY begins with “The Price of Life” chapter, when a grieving father has to make a choice - become a killer or never see his daughter alive again. This dark series promises an original take on the mobster genre, offering action, drama, comedy, futurism and even supernatural. How The Daily Mobster was made, Every "TDM" frame is crafted in a custom pipeline with Maya & RedShift, while Photoshop is used for graphics and InDesign for final layout.

All the characters are hand-keyed by both of us, as if we were directing them in a stage play. We then light every scene, as if we were on a real film set, to capture timeless moments in the story. Anamorphic framing, depth of field, barrel distortion and grain give the nostalgic feel of 1920s film. And then finally, the graphical elements and textures are added to offer a deeper dive into backstory, characters and plot. The result is a multi-layered cinematic approach to a traditional graphic novel.
