Maureen Fitzgerald is a retired nurse, author, living legacy and my former nursing teacher. She played a key role in the erection of a monument dedicated to nurses past present and future in Montreal Canada and is co-editor of the book With Hand and Heart - memoirs from student nursing days from 1925 to 1972 at the St.Mary's School of Nursing. From the Australian wildfires of 2020 to relief work for the survivors of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, Karen's nursing roster is one to be revered. She takes us through her Rural Remote nursing in Australia with amazing stories to share and steadfast beliefs in patient access to care and advocacy.
