In today's edition, Dario looks at the birth of the Red Cross. The organisation was set up by Geneva businessman Henry Dunant after he witnessed the horrific carnage at the battle of Solferino in 1859.

In November 1918 over 250 000 worker in Switzerland lay down their tools for what was to become the biggest strike in Swiss History.

Why did it only last for 3 days and why can we be thankful that it happened?

Jennifer Larmore was born in Atlanta, Georgia. She made her professional operatic debut in the 80s at the Opera de Nice and has worked internationally since and played an extensive list of operatic leads.

In 1996 she sung in at the Olympics Closing Ceremony in her hometown of Atlanta. In 2012, she sung Lady Macbeth in Verdi's Macbeth at the Grand Théâtre de Genève.

Jennifer Larmore performs Broadway at the Megève Festival on Saturday 25th August 2018. We hear her compare Opera to Broadway and the technical differences behind singing the two.

The Megève Festival Savoy Truffle takes place between the 17th - 2nd September.

There are 18 Swiss schools outside of Switzerland. Most of them are in Italy and Latin America but this year a school in Beijing is opening too.
