Cast your mind back to 1994...
Champion Irish dancers Michael Flatley and Jean Butler starred in the 7 minute show that would become the full show 'Riverdance' that we know today. Written by Bill Whelan for the Eurovision Song Contest to fill time between the songs and the announcements; giving time to count the votes.
Whelan would go on to win a grammy for Riverdance 3 years later, in 1997.
Bill Wheelan spoke to WRS' Katt Cullen about the show and the simple beginnings. Here he talks about the early days of a 7 minute show and the worldwide tour that is happening today, 23 years later.
