Nearly two years after leaving the Philippines General Douglas MacArthur fulfilled his promise and returned to the island to continue fighting. When he returned he brought 200,000 soldiers who landed on the island Leyte ready to fight.
To keep the U.S. progression of the war on track General MacArthur had an American task force raid the Peleliu Islands. The fight went on for several days as the Japanese stood their ground with strong counter attacks.
The world is finally hearing of the horrors from the Nazi Death Camps. Rabbis are marching on Capitol Hill pleading for Americans to help the Jews.
